About

Description

Hey, sick of vanilla wolves being completely useless and jumping straight into lava? Same.

Timber Wolves completely overhauls how dogs work in Minecraft (NeoForge 1.21.1). Instead of just hoarding a massive, brainless army of dogs that get in the way, this mod lets you raise a smart, tactical pack of actual companions. Plus, it uses GeckoLib for super clean, custom animations so they actually look alive.

(Note: You need to install GeckoLib for this to work!)

 Bonding & Perks

When you first tame a wolf with some meat, you'll start at Bond Level 0. The more you explore, fight, and hang out together, the higher your bond goes (up to Level 5). Leveling up your bond unlocks:

  • Stat Boosts: Way more health and attack damage.

  • Breeding: You can actually breed your high-level wolves.

  • Last Stand: High-bond wolves won't just die on you. Once per cooldown, if they take fatal damage, they'll clutch up and enter a temporary defensive stance instead of biting the dust.

 Actual Commands (Finally)

No more just spamming right-click to sit and stand. You get an action-bar menu to cycle through 7 different behaviors on the fly:

  • Follow & Protect: The classic bodyguard mode.

  • Guard: Tells them to hold down and protect a specific area.

  • Stay / Wander: Let them chill at base, or let them walk around the area naturally.

  • Hunt / Assist / Hunt Player: Command exactly who and what your pack attacks.

 Fetch & Crafting

  • Throwable Bone: You can actually craft these and play fetch! It's super fun and it's how you level up your bond points.

  • Wolf Whistle: If your dogs get lost in the woods, just blow the whistle to instantly teleport them right back to you.

  • Wolf Bed: Gives your wolves a specific spot to sleep at night.

  • Timber Wolf Pelt: Dropped by wild wolves and used for crafting.

 Pack Abilities

  • Pack Rally: You can make your alpha wolf howl, which gives a temporary combat buff to all your other nearby wolves.

  • Scout Sense: Use /tw scout and your pack will use their senses to sniff out and pinpoint nearby entities for you.

 Rabies

Watch out in the wild. Wild timber wolves have a rare chance to carry rabies. If they bite something, it spreads. If a player gets it, you go into a high-risk, high-reward "frenzy" state. Your tamed wolves are totally immune to it. (And yeah, if you think this sounds annoying, you can completely turn it off or tweak it in the config file).

 Quick Start

  1. Install Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge, and GeckoLib.

  2. Find a wild Timber Wolf in the woods.

  3. Tame it with some meat to get to Bond Level 0.

  4. Craft a Throwable Bone and play fetch to level up your bond.

  5. Use the action bar and the Wolf Whistle to manage your pack.
