🛠️ Toolsmith Sharper
Toolsmith Sharper is a Fabric mod that turns equipment maintenance into a strategic and immersive mechanic. Don’t settle for simple enchantments anymore: learn to sharpen your blades, polish your tools, and manage coating wear depending on your environment.
"A good craftsman is nothing without a well-sharpened tool, but a wise craftsman knows which oil to choose for their blade."
✨ Main Features
🪨 The Art of Sharpening
Improve the base performance of your equipment (Damage for weapons, Speed for tools).
- Grindstone: Sneak and right-click a grindstone with the item in your main hand and a component (Flint or Oil) in your offhand.
- Whetstone: A new portable crafted item essential for applying bonuses while traveling.
- Preventive maintenance: Sharpening repairs 10% (configurable) of the item's durability.
- Conditions: Requires 1 XP level and a tool with at least 20% durability remaining.
📊 Visual Indicator: Durability Bar
No more guessing during combat! The mod changes the durability bar display of your items to visually indicate the state of sharpening or applied oil. You can track in real time the wear of your bonuses and the number of uses remaining directly from your inventory or hotbar.
🧪 Oils & Specialization (Balancing)
Not all oils are suited for every use. The mod now enforces a strict distinction between combat and harvesting:
| Element | Effect (Weapons) | Effect (Tools) |
|---|---|---|
| Flint (Simple) | + Damage | + Mining Speed |
| 🔥 Fire Oil | Sets enemies on fire | ❌ Incompatible |
| 🧪 Poison Oil | Poisons the target | ❌ Incompatible |
| 🧛 Vampire Oil | Life steal (heal) | ❌ Incompatible |
| ❄️ Frost Oil | Slows enemies | ❌ Incompatible |
| 🍀 Luck Oil | Looting | Fortune |
Weapons include: Swords, Axes, and Spears. Tools include: Pickaxes, Shovels, and Hoes.
☁️ Dynamic Degradation System
The lifespan of your bonuses depends on the environment. Pay attention to the elements:
- 🌊 Water & Rain: Extinguish Fire oils and wash away Poison oils 2× faster.
- ☀️ Extreme Heat: Frost oil melts 2× faster in Deserts, the Nether, and Savannas, or when touching Lava or Fire.
- 🌿 Biological Cradle: Poison is more stable in Swamps and Jungles. Frost lasts longer in cold biomes.
- 🌙 Circadian Cycle: Vampire and Luck oils wear down more slowly during the night.
🔮 Next Steps & Future Improvements
Development continues! Here are features planned for upcoming versions:
- 📈 Whetstone Tiers: Introduction of Iron, Diamond, and Netherite variants with increased durability and faster application speed.
- 🏹 Ranged Weapon Support: Ability to coat bows and crossbows to apply effects to fired arrows.
- 🧪 New Oils
- ⚡ Thunder Integration: A massive bonus for Frost or Luck oil during thunderstorms.
- 🛡️ Armor Polishing: Extend the system to "polish" armor for temporary resistance or knockback bonuses.
⚙️ Configuration & Commands
You can customize the entire mod in three different ways:
- Visual Interface: Install ModMenu to access a simplified configuration UI.
- In-Game Commands: Use
/toolsmithsharper set...to adjust values (Damage, Speed, XP cost, Repair). - Config File: Edit
config/toolsmithsharper.properties.
