Description
VeinFell
Chop one log, fell the whole tree. Mine one ore, get the whole vein.
Crouch and break a log with an axe, and every connected log above it comes down with it: branches, 2×2 trunks, all of it. Crouch and mine an ore with a pickaxe that can harvest it, and the whole vein breaks, including the blocks hidden behind the wall and the ones that only touch diagonally.
No client install, no new items, and each player can turn it off with one command. It just makes the tedious parts of survival faster.
Features
- 🌳 Tree felling. Works on every log in
#minecraft:logs, including 2×2 dark oak, jungle and spruce trunks, plus crimson and warped stems. - ⛏️ Vein mining. Works on every ore in
#c:ores, so ores from other mods that use the common tag work automatically. - 🧭 Diagonal-aware. It follows branches and veins that only touch at corners.
- 🪨 Deepslate-aware. Veins that cross from stone into deepslate are mined together: iron ore and deepslate iron ore count as one vein. Modded ores that use the
#c:ores/<type>tags get this too. - 🎯 Precise. It never mixes wood types or different ores (iron stays separate from copper), and never breaks logs below the one you chopped.
- ✅ Plays fair. Every extra block is broken the same way as if you mined it yourself:
- tool durability is used for each block
- Fortune and Silk Touch apply to every block
- hunger and statistics count normally
- you still need the right pickaxe tier (a wooden pickaxe won't chain iron)
Your builds are safe 🏠
VeinFell only fells logs that are touching natural leaves. Log cabins, log walls and player-placed leaf hedges are ignored: crouch-chopping a wall log breaks just that one log.
Your tools are safe 🛡️
VeinFell stops chaining before your tool breaks. Your favourite enchanted pickaxe will never be destroyed by a big vein; it stops at 1 durability.
How to use
- Hold an axe (for trees) or a pickaxe (for ores).
- Crouch (default: Shift).
- Break the block as normal.
Not crouching? You mine one block, exactly like vanilla.
Turn it on or off for yourself
Don't want it right now? Any player can switch VeinFell off just for themselves, with no operator permission needed:
| Command | |
|---|---|
/veinfell |
Show whether it's on for you |
/veinfell off |
Turn it off for you |
/veinfell on |
Turn it back on |
/veinfell toggle |
Flip it |
Your choice is saved with your player, so it sticks through death and server restarts. It only affects you; everyone else keeps their own setting.

For modpacks and datapacks
Which blocks count is controlled by block tags, so you can add or remove blocks with a datapack:
#veinfell:tree_logsincludes#minecraft:logs#veinfell:vein_oresincludes#c:ores
Installation
- Requires Fabric Loader and Fabric API.
- Server-side. On a multiplayer server, only the server needs VeinFell; players can join with a vanilla client.
- Singleplayer: put it in your own
modsfolder.
Compatibility
Extra blocks are broken through Minecraft's normal player block-breaking path and fire the standard Fabric block-break events. Mods that hook those events, such as land-claim and protection mods, see each block as a normal break.
Known limitations
- Leaves decay naturally after felling, just like vanilla, rather than vanishing instantly.
FAQ
Does it work in creative mode? Yes, though creative mode doesn't give drops, just like vanilla.
Can I turn it off without touching the config? Yes: /veinfell off. It only affects you.
Can I use it without crouching? Yes: set activation to ALWAYS or NOT_SNEAKING.
Will it destroy my house? No, not unless your house is made of logs touching natural, non-player-placed leaves. See Your builds are safe above.
Licensed CC0 1.0: use it in any modpack, no permission needed.
