Description

Veinwise is a NeoForge mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 that reimplements the core Veinmine experience - plus two things it always missed: a fast non-modal shape switcher and a live, permission-aware config GUI.

FEATURES

  • Hold-to-veinmine: hold the veinmine key (default B, fully rebindable) while mining and the whole connected vein or formation breaks at once. Release mid-break to stop.
  • Drops where you stand: items and XP collect at your feet, so nothing accidentally rolls into lava.
  • Four shapes: Shapeless (any connected ore/stone family), Large Tunnel (3x3 bore), Stairs Down, Stairs Up.
  • Non-modal shape picker: tap V, press a digit, keep moving - no screen opens, no pause. Sneak-scroll while mining to cycle shapes.
  • Live HUD: shows the current shape and exactly how many blocks your aim will break.
  • Real costs: durability and hunger exhaustion per block, a cooldown between operations, and tool-break protection.
  • Tag-driven merging: ores merge by family (c:ores/*), stone by base_stone_overworld - all overridable.

IN-GAME CONFIGURATION

  • Server admins run /veinwise to edit everything live: block cap (one global limit, default 64), per-shape enable and geometry, costs, and block/tool filters.
  • Everyone gets a personal section (outline toggle, remembered shape, picker hint, shape-switch sound) — no permissions needed.
  • Non-operators see server values read-only; changes apply instantly and re-sync to every player.
  • /veinwise reload reloads the server config from disk and re-syncs all players.

COMMANDS

  • /veinwise - open the config screen
  • /veinwise shape <id> - set your shape directly
  • /veinwise reload - reload and re-sync (permission level 2)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge 21.1+
  • Installed on both client and server (server-side authority, client-side previews)

DATAPACK-FRIENDLY

Extend the built-in filters through tags: veinwise:block_blacklist, veinwise:block_whitelist (when non-empty, only these may be veinmined), veinwise:tool_blacklist. Handy for pack authors.

MODPACKS

You are free to include Veinwise in any modpack, public or private.
