Verity JE Extra

An addon for Verity JE that adds a Verity JE Extra tab to Verity's own config screen — three optional overrides for where Verity's brain and voice actually come from, each off by default and gated behind its own toggle.

Nothing here replaces Verity JE. It's a drop-in addon: install both, and a new tab appears in Verity's existing settings menu.

What it does

Chat — Override Verity JE AI Settings Send Verity's conversation requests to any OpenAI-compatible endpoint instead of the GROQ/OPENROUTER choice built into Verity — OpenRouter, a self-hosted LiteLLM or Ollama server, or any other compatible provider. Set your own endpoint URL, API key, and model name.

Cloud Voice — Override Verity JE TTS Settings Give Verity's cloud text-to-speech its own endpoint, API key, model, and voice, independent of the Chat override. Normally cloud speech shares Verity's single API key with whatever provider is handling chat — this splits them apart. Defaults match Verity's stock Groq/Orpheus setup exactly, so switching this on with nothing else changed doesn't change how Verity sounds.

Offline Voice — Use A Custom Offline Voice Swap the voice behind Verity's built-in CPU speech engine for a Piper model of your own. Fully offline — no server, no API key, no internet connection needed at all. Just point it at your .onnx file (with the matching tokens.txt and espeak-ng-data folder alongside it) and Verity's own local engine loads it in place of the bundled voice.

Requirements

• Verity JE 5.0+
• YACL (Yet Another Config Lib) 3.6+ — already required by Verity JE, so nothing extra to install if Verity already works

Where to find it

Open Verity's config screen as usual — a Verity JE Extra tab now appears at the end. Each override is its own tickbox; the fields underneath stay locked until you turn it on, and nothing in Verity's own config file is touched unless you do.

Good to know

• Voice input (speech-to-text) isn't covered by any of these overrides — it still runs on Verity's own settings.
• Cloud Voice only takes effect when Verity's own Native TTS and Local TTS options are both off.
• Verity refuses cloud speech entirely when its AI Provider is set to OpenRouter — keep it on GROQ if you want Cloud Voice, the Chat override still works independently of that setting.
