This is Damp Soil! A Forge port of the mod Moisturization by RandomMcSomethin

Lookin' for the Fabric version? Here it is: Moisturization

Do you wish farming was more challenging? Then Damp Soil has you covered!

This mod lets you control how farmland behaves around water, how long it stays moist, how fast crops grow, the efficiency of bone meal on crops and other farming related tweaks. It also provides cool sprinklers to irrigate farmland with.

Sprinkler recipe (copper doesn't exist in 1.16.5, so lets pretend iron is copper)

Sprinkler recipe (for 1.18.2+)

 Netherite sprinkler recipe

By default this mod makes it so farmland only gets wet when right next to a water source (diagonally as well). Old-school "villager-style" farms will still work, but for larger farms, more irrigation will be required.

Sprinklers are redstone devices that spew out water droplets when activated, moisturizing nearby farmland (and anyone who stands close to it!). The radius of the sprinklers can be configured in the mod's config file. You can also place them on the ceiling facing downwards!

In addition to sprinklers and farmland tweaks, the growth rate of crops gets heavily reduced by default. If a crop happens to grow on farmland that has dried out, it will die.

A quick summary of features:

  • Crops die without water
  • Reduced growth rate for crops
  • Reduced efficiency of bone meal on crops
  • Configurable water block range for farmland
  • Extended duration for farmland to stay moist without a water source
  • Tilling farmland with a hoe makes the farmland start out moisturized
  • Builtin textures for showing moisture level in farmland
  • Farmland can freeze in cold temperatures
  • Farmland can dry out faster in hot biomes, under direct sunlight
  • Configurable cooldowns on animal produce (for example how long you must wait until you can milk a cow again or before a chicken lays another egg)
  • Sprinkler compatibility with fluid pipes (needing piped water to work)

Misc compatibility:

Serene Seasons:

  • Config file for specifying what animals can breed during which seasons
  • Farmland can freeze in the winter season

Tough As Nails:

  • Standing near an active sprinkler will cool down the player

Most, if not all the features in the mod are configurable, so make sure to check out the config!
