About

Description

🚀 Major Update: 525 → 10,000 Names!

The original version featured 525 names. This major upgrade expands the default collection to 10,000 hand-picked, colored names, with international name support and a completely revamped, code-based system.

The old Blockly ArrayList limitation is gone! Names are now loaded from JSON, making the system easier to maintain and allowing you to customize your naming pool without modifying the mod itself.

📝 Add Your Own Names!

Want more names? Make the mod your own!

Edit the configuration file:

"config/villagershavenames/default_names.json"

Add your own names to the JSON list, including Minecraft color codes such as "§5Derp" for a purple name.

⚙️ New In-Game Commands

Three commands give you control over your naming system:

- "/vhn count" — Displays the number of active names and the default name count.
- "/vhn reload" — Reloads your configured names so your additions become available in-game.
- "/vhn generate" — Generates the default names configuration file.

✨ Features

Persistent Identity: Once a villager receives a name, its identity is locked using persistent entity data. Names survive world reloads and server restarts.

Random Colored Names: Every newly named villager receives a randomly selected name from the active pool, complete with Minecraft color formatting.

International Name Support: A diverse collection of names helps bring greater variety to your villages.

Universal Compatibility: Supports naturally spawned villagers, command-summoned villagers, and custom-spawned villagers.

The Beacon Spawner: Includes a custom spawner block, available in the Creative inventory under the mod's name. Hide it on top of a beacon to turn the beam purple and automatically spawn a randomly named baby villager every 30 seconds!

No Dependencies: Enjoy the complete naming system without installing an additional library mod.

📌 Known Quirks

Spawn Egg Limitation: In Minecraft 1.21.1, babies spawned directly with vanilla spawn eggs may bypass the initial world-join event and therefore may not receive names automatically. Natural births, commands, other supported spawning methods, and the custom beacon spawner work as intended.

Fixed in 26.1.2: The spawn egg naming issue is fixed in the newer version.

🎮 Available for Minecraft Java Edition

The upgraded naming system is available for 1.21.1 and 26.1.2.

From 525 names to 10,000, with customizable JSON configuration, colored names, and in-game reload commands — your villagers will never be nameless again!
