Description
Vital Relics
Vital Relics is a highly configurable relic mod for Minecraft, built for both players and modpack creators.
Discover and equip relics ranging from useful accessories to powerful late-game artifacts. Relics can grant attributes, passive abilities, active spells, unique combat mechanics, and more.
Vital Relics is intentionally designed to be changed.
Project Documentation
The documentation is very easy to use and understand, really.
Most of Vital Relics is data-driven. The built-in relics are the default content—not a fixed limit on what the mod can do.
You can modify or remove built-in relics, create entirely new ones, configure their attributes and abilities, change recipes and loot sources, and control which enemies may spawn with them.
The same systems used by the built-in relics are available to custom configurations, allowing modpacks to build their own progression, balance, relic sets, and enemy variants without modifying the mod's Java code.
Features
- A growing collection of equippable relics
- Active spells with spell selection and a cooldown HUD
- Unique passive abilities and combat mechanics
- Hostile mobs can spawn with relics and gain their abilities
- Relic-bearing enemies are identifiable by orbiting particles
- Configurable attributes, effects, spells, recipes, and loot
- Support for creating custom relics without modifying Java code
- Curios API and JEI integration
- Optional Touhou Little Maid integration
Relics
Relics provide much more than ordinary attribute bonuses.
Depending on the relic, they can regenerate health, improve movement, modify attacks, empower or redirect projectiles, repair equipment, grant flight, provide active abilities, or fundamentally change how you approach combat.
Multiple relics can be equipped together, allowing their effects and abilities to complement each other.
Spell System
Some relics provide active spells.
Use Shift + Mouse Wheel to switch between available spells and press the configured spell key to cast the selected spell. The spell HUD displays the currently selected spell and its cooldown.
Available abilities include teleportation, healing, curses, movement abilities, crowd control, combat spells, and other relic-specific effects.
Enchantment Utility
Some relics provide powerful tools for managing enchanted equipment:
- Upgrade Enchanted Books by increasing an eligible enchantment level
- Ascend enchantments directly on enchanted equipment
- Remove curses from equipment
- Reset anvil repair penalties on valuable equipment
- Disenchant equipment into books to preserve useful enchantments
These abilities can consume experience and provide new ways to develop and preserve valuable equipment beyond vanilla enchanting and anvils.
Enemies with Relics
Players are not the only ones who can use relics.
Hostile mobs can naturally spawn carrying configured relics and receive their effects and passive abilities. Relic-bearing enemies are marked by distinctive particles orbiting around them.
Which enemies can receive each relic—and how frequently they appear—can be configured individually, turning familiar encounters into occasional stronger variants.

Development
Vital Relics ships a small local test harness so a new Minecraft/loader version can be validated without booting the game and clicking through it by hand.
Unit tests (no game required) live in
common/src/test/javaand run with:cd common && ./gradlew testGameTests (a real, headless server) live in each loader module's
com.example.vitalrelics.gametestpackage and run with:cd <module> && ./gradlew runGameTestServerThey use a dedicated
run-gametest/directory, so mods placed inrun/mods/for manual play cannot break the automated run.forge-1.20.1must be run with Java 17, because its Gradle version does not support newer JDKs.
Feedback and Bug Reports
Vital Relics is actively developed.
If you encounter a reproducible bug, compatibility problem, or crash, please report it through the GitHub Issues page with relevant logs and configuration details when possible.
