Description

# WaveWater

WaveWater is a client-side Fabric mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 that transforms oceans, rivers, and underwater exploration with clearer water, animated waves, and brighter aquatic effects.

## Features

- Clearer long-distance underwater visibility with brighter, more natural lighting

- Bright aqua-blue and emerald water colors that still preserve biome variation

- Increased surface transparency with smooth, depth-based blending

- Animated multi-directional waves with calmer clear-weather motion and waves up to approximately three blocks high during thunderstorms

- Brighter white wave crests near shore, shoreline wash, splash particles, and wave sounds

- Visual wave-synchronized bobbing for players and boats

- Slowly moving caustic light patterns on the seafloor

- Configurable underwater bubbles, light motes, and surface light shafts

- Improved visibility and brightness while submerged in lava or powder snow

- In-game settings opened with the `B` key

- Configurable wave render distance from 4 to 32 chunks (16 chunks by default)

## Requirements

- Minecraft 1.20.1

- Fabric Loader 0.16.10 or newer

- Fabric API 0.92.0 or newer

- Java 17 or newer

## Installation

1. Install Fabric Loader for Minecraft 1.20.1.

2. Install Fabric API.

3. Place the WaveWater JAR in your Minecraft `mods` folder.

4. Launch the Fabric profile.

WaveWater is a client-side visual mod. Its waves, shoreline wash, and buoyancy are visual effects; it does not replace server-side water blocks or Minecraft's normal collision rules. The visible wave range is also limited by the chunks currently loaded and rendered by Minecraft.

## Configuration

Press `B` in game to open the BetterWater settings. The key can be changed from Minecraft's Controls menu. You can adjust the particle amount, toggle individual underwater particle effects, and choose a wave render distance from 4 to 32 chunks.

## License

Wave is distributed under the MIT License.
