Whispers Behind You: The Lost Buildings

A simulation left corrupted. A shadow born from a NullPointerException. Keep your torches bright, listen to the footsteps, and try not to let the system delete your data.

Description

🌌 WHISPERS BEHIND YOU

The simulation is no longer safe. A catastrophic memory leak was triggered when the ancient architects attempted to patch the core light engine to permanently erase the darkness. Now, the unallocated, corrupted sectors of your world—the deepest caves, abandoned mineshafts, and ancient cities—are no longer just part of the game; they are fragments of broken, unreadable code.

And from that void, an anomaly was spawned.

Developed by Skyline Studios, Whispers Behind You is a psychological horror mod that seamlessly fuses survival gameplay with low-level software errors.

🛠️ CORE ANOMALIES

👤 The Watcher This is not a typical mob; it is an orphan thread that the simulation failed to delete. It will not aggressively hunt you down; instead, it observes you from unrendered chunks.

Glitch Despawn: The moment you turn around and look directly into its glowing eyes, the client-side engine attempts to render a null value. To prevent a critical game crash, the entity instantly glitches out of memory, leaving nothing but trailing black particles behind.

🧠 Sanity Engine

Staying in pitch darkness (Light Level 2 or lower) slowly corrupts your character's data package. Your data integrity degrades across 3 terrifying stages:

Stage 1 (Desynchronization): Faint audio distortions begin. You start picking up subtle frequencies that shouldn't exist.

Stage 2 (Data Corruption): Ghostly whispers and distant footsteps mimic real environment threats. Nearby torches and light sources begin to flicker violently under the system load.

Stage 3 (Fatal Exception): Complete auditory overload. A heavy, low heartbeat echoes through your client as the system struggles against a fatal error. You must find light immediately before you are deleted.

🔊 AUDIO ARCHITECTURE

The mod comes integrated with a fully custom, directional .ogg audio environment.

Paranoia Mechanics: Experience realistic, binaural sound effects—including footsteps on mud or stone and chilling whispers—designed to play directly behind your actual head orientation.

Fake Triggers: The audio buffer will occasionally toy with your survival instincts by playing distorted vanilla cues, like a fake creeper hiss, forcing you to look back.

🔐 EXECUTABLE LOGS

The architects couldn't fix the leak before the mainframe locked them inside. However, they left corrupted .log files and decryption keys hidden deep within Dungeons, Mineshafts, and Ancient Cities.

If you discover a password during your gameplay (or hidden inside your actual system runtime logs), you must use it to breach our online terminal network to uncover the rest of the chapters.

⚙️ TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Audio Setup: Best experienced with headphones, Master Volume set to high, and Music toggled off for maximum immersion.

Visual Setup: Designed to work flawlessly with the vanilla lighting engine to ensure the dynamic torch-flickering mechanics function properly.
