Description
WorldEditOverdrive is a performance and scalability addon for WorldEdit Enhanced 6.3.0 on Minecraft 1.7.10, designed for large maps and heavily modded servers.
Derived from FAWE-Legacy through KAWE; WorldEditOverdrive was forked directly from KAWE.
FAWE-Legacy: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/fastasyncworldedit-forge
KAWE: https://github.com/KAMKEEL/KAWE
Normal WorldEdit can process large edits synchronously, keeping the server thread occupied until the operation finishes. A sufficiently large paste can cause severe tick stalls or make the main server thread freeze for extended amounts of time, causing an automatic restart.
WorldEditOverdrive changes how supported pastes are executed. Preparation and placement are processed in bounded steps across multiple ticks. Adaptive pacing uses available server headroom, allowing more work when the server is idle and backing off when gameplay becomes busy.
Large pastes use bounded working memory and temporary streamed storage. The total operation can exceed Overdrive’s per-operation memory budget without requiring the entire paste workload to remain in RAM at once. Loading the source schematic and storing the existing clipboard remain WorldEdit responsibilities.
Undo and redo of accelerated edits use the same paced approach, so reverting a large paste does not simply move its uninterrupted workload into another command.
Current features include:
- Paced large clipboard and schematic pasting.
- Paced undo and redo for accelerated paste history.
- Bounded working memory with shared resource accounting.
- Adaptive pacing based on server headroom.
- Placement into destination chunks that are not already loaded.
- Preserved WorldEdit history and supported paste semantics, including masks, transforms, ignore-air behavior, metadata, tile data and entities.
- Live preparation, placement, pacing and history diagnostics.
- Normal WorldEdit fallback when acceleration is unavailable.
Use your usual WorldEdit commands; supported acceleration is automatic. Operator and console commands such as /overdrive preparation, /overdrive placement, /overdrive pacing and /overdrive history help explain progress and waiting.
The current release accelerates supported paste paths and their history replay. Region commands such as set, replace, walls, stack and move still use normal WorldEdit behavior. Fast-mode pastes also remain native. Compatibility with every WorldEdit fork, addon or modded block implementation is not guaranteed.
Extremely large edits still take time, and client rendering or chunk-update FPS drops can occur even while the server remains responsive. Individual expensive game or mod calls can still cause stalls. Throughput depends on block behavior, chunk loading, lighting, neighboring updates and other installed mods.
The goal is to let large edits finish while the server remains usable. WorldEditOverdrive is intended for builders, map makers and administrators who regularly push WorldEdit beyond the edit sizes that synchronous processing handles comfortably.
