About

Description

Wye's Hungerless is a total overhaul of food. Removes the hunger mechanic and natural health regeneration entirely. Food now provides healing when eaten.

BONUS EFFECTS

Nearly every food in the game provides potion effects, including new effects! This encourages food diversity and gives every food item a niche in gameplay. The effects provided by foods were balanced to be less potent than potions.

New Effects:

Sturdy protects against powerful attacks. Powerful attacks are attacks that have damage greater than half of the victim's max health. Sturdy provides a moment of slow falling after blocking a powerful attack. Limits damage to the victim's max health - 2, meaning you cannot be one-shot by any attack. Does not affect fall damage. This effect is useful against Charged Creepers, Wardens, and TNT.

Magic Resistance reduces the damage taken from magical sources. This effect protects against potions of harming, wither, dragon breath, sonic booms, and lighting bolts.

Fall Resistance reduces the damage taken from high falls without slowing fall speed. Stacks with feather-falling enchantments.

STACKING

Nearly every food stacks to 4. Why 4? It limits the power of food to be more in line with the golden age of Minecraft. But it's still convenient to cook, especially with campfires. There are some exceptions to this rule, like cookies that stack to 8.

MOVEMENT OVERHAUL

Some people believe sprinting is overpowered and makes mobs less engaging. While others cannot part with the convenience of sprinting. These config settings provide a compromise. You can enable speed walking which disables player sprinting but increases the player's base move speed. You can also enable a setting that increases the base speed of slow melee-focused mobs.

BETTER BERRIES

Sweet berries and glow berries have the annoying trait of being both a food and a seed, so you can accidentally plant them when you mean to eat them. This mod solves this issue by requiring you to craft berries into seeds before planting them.

HEALING METHODS

Food heals by giving the player regeneration. The health recovered is equivalent to the nutritional value of the food consumed. If you prefer instant healing, a config setting lets you swap the healing method to instant.

OTHER CHANGES

  • The Hunger potion effect now prevents you from sprinting (if you don't disable sprinting universally).
  • Soups and stews now are consumed instantly, and other foods have varied eating speeds too.
  • Mob loot tables were rebalanced to drop less meat.

FAQ

1. Is this mod coming to Fabric? I am new to modding so Forge is the limit of my capabilities currently. But I am planning to learn Fabric porting.

2. Will this mod be backported to older versions? No.

3. Is this mod compatible with modded food? Yes, but it won't grant modded food bonus effects.

4. Will this mod be updated to newer versions? Yes, eventually.

5. Does this mod work in multiplayer? Yes, Versions 1.2+ should work in multiplayer

6. Where are the config options? To make this mod work in multiplayer, I changed from a client config to a server config, so now you must edit the hungerless-server.toml found in saves/yourworld/serverconfig/ directory.
