WARNING

Version 0.7 and onward is drastically different.  Do not upgrade current worlds as many mods have been removed!

- A Grim Life -

Life is grim, but it doesn't have to always be so dreary. With a little hard work and a whole lot of persistence you can overcome these grizzly conditions.

There are three schools of thought when contemplating our plight in life. The first is misery loves company. You can work with others and build a thriving town, sharing the work load and find those moments where life just might be grand. The second path is that of technology. Build big machines fueled by wind, water or even burning natural resources. Force the world to bend to your might. Lastly there is the magic of the world. Magic tends to be subtle at first, but over time and with constant research you are able to change the world around you with the mystical forces of nature to protect and serve you.

Which path will you take? Will it be just one or will you dedicate your life and sleepless hours to mastering all there is in the world?

- Introduction -

A Grim Life is a modpack that tries to make survival just a little bit more difficult. You cannot sleep away the horrors of night, and you must sustain yourself with meals and keep hydrated. Many of the mechanics that you take for granted in regular minecraft have changed and you will have to progress in any of the three paths to overcome.

- Paths of Progression -

Technology: Immersive Engineering, Immersive Petrolium, Open Computers, Refined Storage

Magic : Astral Sorcery, Roots, Botania, Totemic,

Colonial : Minecolonies, Harvest Festival

- Vanilla Changes -
Buckets no longer move water. You cannot create infinite water just by placing a couple blocks of water down. This can be overcome. You can silk touch ice and let it melt, the different magic mods allow for creation of water blocks, and in the steel age you can use immersive engineering to pump water to new locations. The colonial branch has very early access to creating water sources, but it is limited. You can use your minecolonies builder to place fields or wells.

You cannot plant vanilla seeds. To grow food you will need to progress down the colonial path using the Harvest Festival seeds/farming. Hemp seeds can be planted without hydration.

You cannot get planks from logs directly in a crafting grid (or even sticks). You will need to construct/use the chopping block from Survivalist in order to get your first planks. Survivalist also supplies starting flint tools that can be crafted in the 2x2 grid. Place your chopping block on the ground and right click to place a log on top of it. Left click on the log with an axe (do not hold down left click) 3 times and your log will become planks (you gain more if using a higher tier axe). Repeat the process with planks to get sticks. You can use a Better with Mods saw later on to accelerate the process

I will not be providing server files for the pack.  You will need to install Minecraft Forge version 2316 for Minecraft 1.10.2 and copy the config, mods and script folders from the client to the installation directory.
