Description

Requires Optifine!

For alpha terrain generation, download it here

Have you ever wanted to experience the old version of Minecraft with friends, or play newer Minecraft mods in Alpha or Beta? Now you can! This mod is designed for those who want to want to add mods to their nostalgic experience, or for people who simply want to play an older version of Minecraft without the bugs. Along with the alpha/beta feel, you can defeat the Ender Dragon and explore the end cities!

This is a collection of other's mods and resource packs (alongside some of my own work) designed to revive nostalgic Minecraft.

Features:

  • Sleeping will only set a spawn point and will not skip the night (for alpha experience)
  • Alpha terrain generation (using the link above)
  • Renamed items to their older counterparts
  • Old mob spawning (Piglins, Dolphins, etc. will not spawn [except for Endermen and Shulkers]), alongside old mob loot (zombies drop feathers, pigs are only mob that drops food, etc.)
  • Textures from alpha and beta versions
  • Beta sounds
  • Pre-1.9 combat
  • No XP required for both the enchantment table and anvil
  • Removed hunger, levels, recipe book, and off-hand
  • Disabled toasts and item recipe widgets
  • Boss music while dragon is alive. Plays Calm 4 by Notch
  • Old Lighting

FAQ:

Q: Why does my world always generate with the same seed?

A: Random seeds provided in-game do not work! To change the seed, open Modern Alpha (or Modern Alpha Plus)/data/minecraft/dimension/overworld.json and update the two "seed" fields to your desired numeric seed! (Pasted from Modern Alpha Plus).

Q: Will you update this mod to X version?

A: Not unless every mod receives an update, or I find alternatives. On the other hand, I may be able to backport to 1.12 using different mods.

Q: Where can I configure the mods?

A: Click on mods at the title screen and click one a mod you wish to configure. Some mods do not have an option to, while others are more complicated. I would suggest looking at the developer's page on how to configure X mod.

Q: Will there be a Fabric port?

A: Yes, I plan on creating a modpack for Fabric in the future.

If I failed to mention any resource packs or missed any textures, sounds, item names, etc., please let me know and I will give proper credit!

To do: edit some vanilla crafting recipes

  • Pre-1.9 PvP Mechanics
Pre-1.9 PvP Mechanics Now with sword blocking and spam hitting! Axes have also had their damage reduced.
  • Custom Textures
Custom Textures To fit the nostalgic feel, there are three custom textured items (and yes, elytras were originally dragon wings).
  • The Nether
The Nether Zombie Pigmen are back, alongside the pre-1.16 nether!
  • Blocks
Blocks Full block chests, alpha ore blocks, and much more!
  • Alpha Terrain
Alpha Terrain Now with beta mobs and loot tables (zombies now drop feathers)!
  • The End
The End The end looked very different than it does today. The endstone textures were different, and Endermen eyes were green. (Dragon eyes were originally purple to match Endermen, but it has been changed to green).
  • Beta-themed End Portal
Beta-themed End Portal In Beta 1.9 pre-release 3, the portal had a light blue texture and a different texture for both the unlit and lit portal. Because I am unsure how to replicate the textures, I remade the end portal with the old color scheme!
