You cannot 100% this modpack.

In the "Hello Family" quest line, there are five quests requiring you to obtain each of the five Minecraft Comes Alive guide books. I've done as much research as possible to see if they're obtainable. Oh, maybe you can craft them! You can get them as gifts! They're dungeon loot! No. They are unobtainable.

That being said, maybe you shouldn't try to 100% this one.
The modpack's goal is "to be as much frickin' fun as possible."
Fun is not what you will have if you try to 100% it, especially if you try to do so as fast as possible by beelining The Erebus' Animation Wand and by abuse of that, ProjectEX's Final Star .
But if you stay true to the goal of the modpack, it is definitely pretty fun.

First off, this is not a true skyblock. It contains Aroma1997's Dimensional World, which allows you to skip Ex Nihilo grinding entirely. And honestly, as much as Ex Nihilo makes sense in a skyblock setting, I kinda liked this. Ex Nihilo's prevalence in skyblock modpacks were what made them boring; this modpack dared to say "screw it, add the mining dimension."

That's kinda the gist of the modpack. It is over 400 mods thrown together to make the skyblock experience as fun as possible. And if you use them correctly, it definitely accomplishes that. Tech? We got Mekanism, Thermal Expansion, Industrial Foregoing Ender IO, etc...hell, we even have NuclearCraft. Magic? Astral Sorcery, Totemic, Botania (gameplay-wise, yes, it's a tech mod, but it's magical in nature and that's what the modpack considers it), Arcane Archives (similar to Botania's case but instead of it being a tech mod it's a storage mod). Resource generation? We have Roost, Hatchery, AND Mystical Agriculture (and Fluid Cows, too, I guess). And of course, all the classic "OP" mods: Draconic Evolution, Avaritia, and the ever-controversial ProjectE and its addon ProjectEX.
It also goes all out on the whole "fun" thing. I mean, you got Cyclic, Stupid Things, Trumpet Skeletons, Smiley Traffic Cones????? There's a bunch of mods no similar modpack would ever really add. Besides Cyclic, maybe. Point is, there's a lot of fun and silly mods, but the silliness doesn't stop there. It REALLY goes all out. There's a bunch of custom sounds for countless things, like opening chests, animal noises, mobs, etc. The soundtrack is completely replaced by various Kevin MacLeod tracks, numerous of which I've never heard of. In fact, they were all catchy enough for me to want to try and identify and then compile them. So I did. https://www.youtube.com/playlistlist=PLnscpPUEja3utd_oRuVM3eUZGKHNM27jq
Tried to get as many as I could but it's very possible I could still be missing a few.
And of course, how could you be a "fun" modpack without the likes of Chance Cubes? Everyone's favorite Lucky Blocks knockoff is present in this one.

So that's what this modpack is. It's a skyblock modpack that's designed around being fun. Which I believe makes it very unique. That's not really something you see many of the major modpacks do nowadays, is focus on fun. It's all about progression and challenges and stuff. This modpack just wants you to have a good time. And for the most part, I did. But that's where my gripes come in.

The sounds and music can get VERY repetitive after playing for extended periods of time. After a certain point, "fun" just becomes "annoying." I guess because of that, the pack may have accidentally been designed to be played in shorter sessions?
Also, this IS a skyblock. So typically you're going to make a mob farm. But Loot Bags and trumpets from Trumpet Skeleton are easily one of the biggest causes for clogging up inventories. Maybe drop rates could've been toned down. Thankfully Ender IO is in the pack so filtering these things out aren't a big issue, but still a bit of a nuisance nonetheless.
Also, the quests lead you to believe that you should be doing Ex Nihilo. But then it also has Aroma1997's. So it's like, what the hell was I doing all that sifting for if I can just go mining? The pack design can be very confusing.
Very well optimized for a 400+ mod modpack, I'll say. I think it comes prepackaged with Optifine, though, and I'm sure it sprinkled in a bunch of performance mods here and there. High frames makes sense in the overworld since it's almost entirely a void aside from the starter island and clouds, but even in other dimensions I wasn't lagging very much. That is honestly the best thing I can say about this pack is how well it runs. Then again, I'm running it on 32GB of RAM with 16 allocated, so your experience may differ.

Overall, don't try to 100% this or speedrun this. Just have fun. Pretty good combination of mods. Has a lot to offer. Design is a bit confusing at times when it comes to its quests, but overall pretty good experience. Probably even more "fun" when you actually go ahead and use quest rewards, unlike me. I mean, come on. The clouds give you water essence and diamonds. Ideally I'd give this a 3.5/5, but this site doesn't allow half-stars, so I'll just give it a four.
Quirky, but fun.

TLDR:

>>> OVERPOWERED fun & serious silliness in the sky! 400+ mods - 1000+ quests. From the creators of Awakening. <<<

NEW: Looking for a well optimised, unique new modpack? Why not try: AMP - Mechanisms, Magic & Masonry!

(Do not PM issues or bugs, they will be ignored. Use the Issue Tracker or Discord, thanks).

About Awakening Modpack:

Awakening - Sky of Diamonds is a modpack designed with 1 goal in mind... to be as much frickin' fun as possible. From the moment you spawn on 9 blocks of diamond you know this is going to be different. Unlike a lot of modern sky-blocks; which seem to have drastically increased grind and become hugely over complicated, SoD breaks the mold by reducing initial grind and focusing more on bringing back the good times. There's no 100 long nested armour crafting chains here, no 9x9 crafting just to make a stick. What we do have is a bunch of great mods, from lesser know to the classics, a whole bunch of dimensions to explore, 1000+ quests and a whole bunch of down right wacky fun. An ideal "pallet cleanser" pack to play between larger packs, like Awakening - Classic ;)

Need a server to play with friends? Don't know how to set one up? Just rent a pre-configured server!

Click on the picture above to select a plan (at least 3GB), and use my code awakening25 to get 25% off your first month!

Note: This is a heavy pack. You will need a fairly decent computer to run it. I would recommended setting your RAM to at least 6GB in the Curse/Twitch launcher settings (8GB+ is recommended for best experience). Servers should have a minimum of 4GB of RAM, but ideally more for the best experience. The pack also requires Java 8 (do not use an older or newer version). A performance guide can be found (HERE).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What state is the pack currently in?

A. Awakening - Sky of Diamonds is currently in release state, it should be very stable and any bugs or issues are generally fixed quickly (as are all Awakening packs).

Q. Can I use this modpack to record a YouTube/Twitch etc. series?

A. If you use this modpack for a let’s play, please let me know (although not necessary). I would love to link to it in this thread. Other than that go for it!

Q. The pack keeps failing to download/update or times out?

A. This is an error with the Curse/Twitch launcher and, unfortunately, beyond my control. It seems to happen mostly on poor or low speed internet connections. Please try downloading the pack at another time.

Q. Can I setup a server to play with friends?

A. Sure! Dedicated server release is now available, just look under the 'Additional Files' section after choosing the version you want to use (HERE). Or if you are struggling; Bisect our sponsors can even set the modpack up for you! Just click (HERE).

Q. Is there an open server I can play on?

A. There are usually open servers advertised on the Discord (HERE).

Q. I cant become a Patreon is there any other way to join the sub server?

A. You can gain Patreon rank (and all available in game Patreon rewards) by being helpful and active on the Discord (HERE). So hop on and start chatting!

Q. Can I redistribute or modify this pack?

A. You may NOT under ANY circumstance redistribute this pack or claim it as your own. Derivative works are also forbidden. You may ONLY modify the pack for PERSONAL use. For more information please read the full license (HERE).

Q. Could you please add [AE2/Blood Magic/Mod ABC]?

A. The mods chosen and used in this pack are carefully chosen and modified for balance. Some mods upset this balance, others cause conflicts with current mods or performance issues. You are welcome to add mods yourself; however, you may ONLY modify the pack for PERSONAL use. For more information please read the license (HERE). Please note that absolutely no support can be provided for a modified pack, do so at your own risk.

Q. I’ve found a bug, where should I report it?

A. All bugs should be reported to the issue tracker (HERE). If you want help with other issues, the Discord is the best place to get quick help, it can be found (HERE).

Q. Where is the best place to chat about the pack?

A. Discord (HERE).

Q. Sound cuts in/out when loading a world or doesn't start after is has been muted/un-muted?

A. There are a few problems with the mod controlling music. The mod we used in the 1.7 packs hasn't updated to 1.12 so we had to use a different one. I'm looking into solutions for these minor issues, but they shouldn't be a major problem; simply mute the music if you don't like the bugs.

Q. The pack is laggy/I have a lower spec computer, can I still run the pack?

A. You can try adding the Optifine mod from: https://optifine.net/downloads.

Q. The sky flashes or displays strangely when I use shaders?

A. The botania garden of glass skybox is known to cause issues with some shaders. Notably a flashing skybox. If you are having this issue, you can either turn off sky rendering in video settings or disable the Garden of Glass mod. A shaders guide can be found (HERE).
