About

Description

Many years have passed since the fall of mankind. The world is now a brutal wasteland with ruins strewn across the land, and nature retaking what was once taken from it. You wake up in a bunker after who knows how many years, and are greeted to a harsh new reality filled to the brim with creatures straight out of ones nightmares. It makes you wonder if things would've better if this world was just forgotten....

Description

Better off Forgotten is my first attempt at making and publishing a modpack to CurseForge. It is a post-apocalyptic horror modpack. The world is a wasteland with ruins of our bygone civilizations falling a part over the landscape. You are one of the last few survivors of the past world, and must try to strike out a living to ensure our ancestor's goals were not misguided. It'll be hard, though. Not only will you need to face the elements and other survivors, but horrible monsters from outside our reality have claimed this world for their own, and will do everything in their power to snuff out your lifeforce. Do you have what it takes to face these new challenges head on, or will you too be consumed by the darkness?

Content

  • The world is covered by a thick layer of mist from the mod Better Fog. You can never truly see what's in the distance waiting for you.

  • Not only will you need to look out for your hunger, but you also have a thirst bar and must regularly keep it full by drinking clean water. This might get tricky when the seasons change....

  • Loot abandoned structures and cities. Maybe you can clean up one of them to become your new forever home.

  • The End and Nether are inaccessible through normal means. Instead, Better off Forgotten has two new dimensions for you to explore, thanks to the mods Midnight and Deep Void.

  • The night is extra dark thanks to the True Darkness mod. Enhanced Celestials may make these nights even more challenging with the chance of Blood Moons to appear.

  • The modpack adds lots of new horror-based mobs who will try to kill you, like The Root of Fear and GoatMan, but some entities may like to play with their food a lot more, like 000.jar and In The Corners. There's a mix of different types of fear for everybody!

  • Face the darkness by crafting guns from the mod (TaCZ) Timeless and Classics Zero and modern gear from Marbled's Arsenal (MA) to give you an edge over the new monsters. There's also NPC survivors across the world who you may need to fight for supplies.

Important Notes

You are free to record yourself play Better off Forgotten and post it on YouTube. I only ask that you please put the modpack's link in your video's description or in a pinned comment. Please do not distribute the modpack nor any of its content. If the pack gets enough of a demand, I'll look into posting it on Modrinth.

Constructive feedback is more than welcome for Better off Forgotten. This is my first published modpack afterall, so there's bound to be things I can do better. Feel free to comment your experience playing the mod, or if you have any suggestions to make it better. You can also contact me directly by private messaging me on CurseForge, or shooting me DM on Discord at the_farlander. (please do not forget the period).

Credits

All the mods and resource packs used in Better off Forgotten are of course in the Relations tab. I highly encourage players to check it out, and show some love to all the creators and their amazing content.

A special shoutout to riverrflower for developing White Eyes In The Mist, a custom resource pack made for Better off Forgotten, which changes the mob textures from Eyes in the Darkness. You can see more of their work by clicking here.

Also thank you RM824 Somnium from Discord for helping me come up with the modpack's name.
