Denizens of New Alania is a fantasy/horror mod pack that takes place in a subterranean world filled with danger. Humanity—or what’s left of them at least—has been forced beneath the surface, and now spends every waking hour struggling to survive. 

New Alania takes place a millennia after an apocalyptic event that completely eradicated the old builders. The above world remains, but it is saturated with radioactivity and decay. 

Below is just as deadly, with horrors around every corner. But the dwellers will not be the only threat, as you’ll be fighting for resources once plentiful so long ago. Common blocks like wood and wool become slowly dwindling materials, and lead to a hardcore experience (if you wish it) like no other. 

The question now remains: will you brave the caves and uncover the secrets of this place, or will you fade away into the darkness like so many others?

10+ structure and world generation mods make the world feel truly ancient and expansive. Shattered world heights alone drops the bedrock 8x deeper!

You play the role of one of six unique origins who call New Alania home: 

Forgotten One. A completely unchanged experience, no boons or banes. 

Neo Dwarf. Short-folk who have adapted perfectly to the underground, sporting faster mining speeds and improved sight. 

Salamander. Blind amphibians who poison their assailants with their radioactive skin. 

Imitator. Manipulators who aren’t able to regenerate on their own, but grow incredibly strong at high health. 

Pale Gnome. Tiny humanoids who prefer to keep hidden and quiet to survive. 

Cave Troll. Hulking brutes unable to craft or mine, but incredibly strong and powerful.

Story Overview

Far beneath the sun-scorched surface, deep in the caverns below, is a place separated entirely from the known. It is a hollow, hungry world, thriving in the vacuum left behind for it. 

It is a place of toil and survival. Every day is a battle against the clock—a clock that counts down with every breath, every mistake, every second wasted. And when that clock hits zero, the world reclaims you, and it begins again. 

The Denizens—the last remaining people—know this all too well. No matter how much they change, this place will never welcome them—and they know it. They feel it in their blood, and they’ve grown accustomed to it. 

They know no other world, yet they do not call it home, for it is not theirs. They do not call it a prison or a punishment, for they have never known the freedom to understand what they have been denied. They call it New Alania, because that—that is what it is, new. It is a replacement for what was lost, not because it is better, but because it is all they have now. It is the single hope that they cling to—that things could be worse and that they still can be. So they fight, they struggle, so that day never comes. 

That is what New Alania is: a dream. A dream of freedom and safety, and the right to live. It is the future, but only if you make it so. 

So fight. Fight for a world without suffering. Fight for a future of your making. Fight… for New Alania.
