Like me, you have always been fascinated by large modpacks, but the long start-up time of Minecraft and the low FPS get frustrating over time ...
Here is my solution:
A small, lightweight modpack with only 40+ mods that leaves little to be desired:

Magic- and Fun-mods like Ars Nouveau, Rats, Mystical Agriculture, ...
Practical-mods like botany pods, mining gadgets, waystones, ...
