Description
What are The Elderwoods?
The Elderwoods features worlds that are composed only of forests with imposing, ancient and mysterious looking trees.
The modpack is part of the Biome Palettes series (work in progress), a collection designed to change the atmosphere of Minecraft world through a defined aesthetic and thematic "palette" of biomes. Using the Biome Replacer mod, this pack takes almost 500 biomes from popular worldgen mods and uses only a careful selection of them to create a coherent and immersive world.
The pack is ideal for dark fantasy, horror or imposing nature worlds. I don't want to add a whole ton of mods to the pack and it's intentionally lightweight so anyone can integrate any other mods they'd consider fitting to their adventure. Still I'll probably make an alternate version with my preferred and more curated set of mods.
This modpack is meant to be played with my Resourcepack:
Stormy Waters & Gloomy Skies
Biome Palette for The Elderwoods
The main inspiration for this pack are the single-biome Redwood Forest worlds that many minecraft horror youtubers make for their videos. In this case adding more variety but keeping the large tall trees as the main feature.
The following are the worldgen mods used in the pack and below the respective biomes that have been selected to create the world.
Biomes O' Plenty
- Ominous Woods
- Old Growth Dead Forest
- Redwood Forest
Oh The Biomes You'll Go
- Cika Woods
- White Mangrove Marshes
Regions Unexplored
- Bamboo Forest
- Fen
- Fungal Fen
- Golden Boreal Taiga
- Muddy River
- Old Growth Bayou
William Wythers' Expanded Ecosphere
- Ancient Golden Beech Forest
- Ancient Moss Forest
- Ancient Mossy Swamp
- Ancient Taiga
- Badlands River
- Eucalyptus Deanei Forest
- Forbidden Forest
- Giant Sequoia Forest
- Tropical Rainforest
Any suggestion, feedback or new ideas are welcomed. There are almost 500 biomes in total so it's entirely possible I've missed some or replaced cave or nether biomes I shouldn't have, If you stumble upon a biome that feels out of place, please let me know.
Playing Online
If you want to play on a server, you must make sure the biome_replacer.properties as well as the other files inside the config folder are the same as in the modpack.
And don't forget to delete the client-side mods, currently they are:
- Polytone
- Fog Looks Good Now
- Better Biome Reblend
- Embeddium
- Oculus
- Entity Culling
- Just Enough Items
