Description

Froggy's Performance Collection

Take your FPS from 550-750 to 1500-1700

This modpack is designed with a focus on performance while being compatible with a lot of other mods and has some of the latest performance mods for both the client and server side that you can find out there for 1.12.2 as of right now.

It is also equipped with Spark and Lag Goggles to monitor servers with and to try hopefully minimise lag/problems if they arise.

Benchmarks were taken without Optifine and additional JVM arguments so you can probably use those to get even more performance. Optifine is compatible.

Quick update thought I'd also add: On my new PC (Ryzen 5600 and stuff) I'm currently getting around 2500 FPS with this modpack and also optifine installed.

Server Information:

  • Chunk pregenerator is included in this modpack however it is disabled by default just so people can test FPS without it if they wanted to (I wasn't sure if some people would get mad at it being enabled by default or not, I'm not sure why they would it's a great mod), however I highly suggest using this mod for servers and maybe even single player if you wanted to. It's one of the best and most highly important performance mods for servers and stuff out there. Without using it you can probably expect your server to lag when you or other people start exploring a lot.

Extra Performance Guide:

  • I'm not the most experienced when it comes to using additional JVM arguments for performance boosts and stuff but I believe these
might be the current standard (without getting into advanced stuff) for 1.12.2:
    -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M
  • Optifine Render Regions On setting can boost performance.
  • Adjust Render distances if you want/need to.

Shaders Information:

  • If you go to use shaders please make sure you install a specific version of Optifine called "OptiFine HD U G6 pre1".
  • If you want a huge performance increase disable shadows in your shaders settings this can take you from something like 100 FPS to 250/300 FPS.
  • I would advise you use the ones provided in the modpack (BSL, Makeup, Miniature) as by default (I've included the config files for them) the shadows will be disabled.
  • If you want even more FPS you can try other shader presets like medium/low etc

Configuration/Notes:

  • I think I saw somewhere on github that the dimension unloader feature in Universal Tweaks may be broken (not 100% sure but be careful pls) so I have disabled that specific feature in the mods configs files (the config files for this come included in the modpack) and added the Unloader mod to take it's place.
  • If you have any suggestions or improvements I could make please let me know.
