Hexxit Updated is a fairly light modpack with around 90 mods. The minimum requirement for RAM allocation is 2.5GB. With some tinkering with some JVM arguments, you may be able to run Hexxit Updated on an older computer. I managed to run the latest version with 2.5GB allocated while hovering at about 80-90% utilization during gameplay (with 60fps at 8 render distance).

Not to mention Optifine. Optifine is not allowed to be added in modpacks directly, but you are able to add them yourself. This is highly recommended as it boosts FPS by a significant margin and adds the zoom feature which is almost a necessity.
