I really wanted this pack to be good, and I really tried to enjoy it. I have tried to play and enjoy it both by myself and with friends, but it doesn't work.

Gameplay 1/5

The pack is built on the idea of 'Roguelike' runs, where you aim to get deeper into progression while the world becomes more and more dangerous. On the face of it, this sounds like a really fun idea-I love roguelikes, and I liked RLCraft, which the creator seems to have taken some heavy inspirations from.

You spawn into your world, start collecting the basic materials for a pickaxe, or weapons, or mining in general-And then a monster appears out of nowhere and kills you.

The pack has no consideration for the idea that you aren't already experienced with this pack specifically. It has it's own progression system with a lot of unique flavourings and custom modded content, and it does absolutely no work to guide you towards it whatsoever and gives you no time to breathe either.

It has a levelling system based on killing mobs over a certain HP threshold, but the only reason you'll discover this is because you saw someone else use it or you manage to kill several strong monsters without the buffs. This system in no way accounts for bonuses if you kill a mob significantly over the threshold by the way.

There's a whole tool levelling system which I can find no information on whatsoever. I went to the mod page for it and the information it gave me was of no help at all.

There's a rune and affix system but no guides on how to do it.

And most damning of all in my opinion-There's apparently a boss order. As in, there's a specific order to which you're supposed to fight the mobs in the game, and there's no in-game indication as to what that is other than summoning the bosses and looking at their HP Bars.

The developer of the pack, Union, promised to make a series showing how to play the pack/doing his own playthrough, and after nine months there's no sign of it. It's possible some of the information that's sorely lacking in the pack itself is available on the discord, but if I have to join a discord in order to play a Minecraft modpack, I consider that a failing of game design.

I did not have to join a RLCraft discord to progress in RLCraft.

Aesthetics 3/5

Fortunately the Aesthetics of the pack are more reasonable. It looks quite nice with caves that are fun to explore (if not for all the monsters) and varied in design, with prismarine caves, granite caves, stalactites, naturally generating stone stairs and slabs, etc.

The tooltips also add a lot of RPG flavour. The rarities assigned to the items and the borders that surround them feel natural and would be easy to dismiss as simply vanilla behaviour, even though they aren't. It doesn't reinvent the aesthetic wheel, but it does a good job for the pack it's trying to be.

Performance/Stability 4/5

Performance can be a bit tight on lower end computers, but all things considered I think it runs pretty well for a quite heavy modpack. I didn't notice any real significant stutters or frame drops while playing, nor did I experience any crashes.

Closing Thoughts

In the end, I simply cannot in good faith recommend for anyone to play this pack. I'm all for brutally challenging packs, but only if they actually give you a path to move forward. A modpack should be entirely self contained, and if the only way to figure out how to play a pack like this is to join a discord-That's just not good enough.

I’m playing this with a couple of other people and we haven’t gotten too far, but we’ve had a lot of fun playing it so far. Early game it’s a bit hard to get used to, the difficulty can be tough, but the pack is in constant development, and the developer listens to feedback. Once you get a grip of things and figure out how things work, it becomes really fun, and there’s a lot of ways to play. Aside from the combat, fishing has been reworked to some extent. You can now fish up enemies (and get good loot from killing them), crates, TNT and crate potions. The game features 12 custom origins which are all unique and play well together in multiplayer. The enemies are difficult, but if you make use of your abilities you can usually take them down. One issue that you might encounter if you run a server is the difficulty system, which means that you might get basically unkillable mobs if you leave it running for too long, but the creator seems to be aware of this and may fix it at some point.

Sucks. It just sucks. Not because it is bad, nor is it poorly optimized or anything like that: it is its artificial difficulty implemented. How is it possible that as soon as I start I have a skeleton that is 20 levels ahead and I still haven't even been able to get iron? And to my surprise, in a desperate attempt to get minerals underground, in a space 3 blocks high, a 500k health dragon appears out of absolute nowhere. I think that the balance needs a lot to polish.
Overall it looks good, moves well. The classes and powers are great (although a little messy to configure to your liking).
Anyway. It could be more fun and enjoyable. Maybe it is aimed at a hardcore audience but it is an insufferable modpack. Dawncraft 2.

It's not just fun to play with a big quantity of different Origins, Mobs, Structures and Bosses but it's very optimized too.

But you can find random mobs with high level that they are going to insta kill you, literally because the level mobs mod, that's something that I think it need to be polished.

Description

Infernal Origins 2.0.0 is finally here!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now you may be wondering, what is Infernal Origins?

Well, it's an extremely challenging modpack with heavy inspiration from your usual MMO gameplay.

We're talking massive numbers, custom class based Origins, bosses with raid mechanics, and quick progression.

Oh and of course, TONS of custom made content specifically for this pack that you won't find anywhere else.

This modpack is built for at least 3+ players, but you can play solo if you'd like.
Additionally, this is best played like a rogue-like since it includes SCALING DIFFICULTY OVER TIME.
If you fall behind progression, do another run with your friends and with the knowledge you gained on your last run!

Click here to join our Discord!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Want some major info? No problem, we've got:

> 13 Custom Origins that all upgrade into stronger versions upon killing the Ender Dragon.

> Built in multiplayer hosting with Essential, allowing you and your friends to play without buying a server.

> Built in proximity voice chat by holding X, that also immediately works on servers with no setup!

> Multiple bosses you've seen before with NEW custom mechanics and raid-like wipe attacks.

> ACTUAL scary mobs, including elemental variations, enchanted mobs, AI enhancements, difficulty scaling, and hell they can even roll almost ANY gear on spawn!

> Slayer tasks that award skill points with 13 skills to build into.

> Major weapon and armor customization with rune slots, scrolls, affixes, built-in passives, and our own custom weapon mod Fabled Weaponry.

> Almost all enchantment conflictions REMOVED, including modded ones!

> Insta-kill prevention from one shots, including a down system that allows your friends to pick you back up.

> Gravestones just in case you do die and you want your loot to be safe while going back.

> Improvements to almost ALL parts of non-combat gameplay, such as custom Terraria inspired fishing, farming and cooking mods, and a TON of blocks to build with.

> Massively overhauled world-gen with an extremely unique caving experience.

> Special moons almost EVERY night with 6 variations.

> Custom textures and sprites for ALL UIs, especially some sprite overhauls to make some other items look nicer.

> Custom rarities and borders applied to ALL items based on MMO progression tiers. (This took forever dear god)

> All item stacks raised to 999!

> And lastly, but MOST importantly, an anti-crashing mod to allow you to get back to playing without having to restart your game, just in case!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can't have that MMO feeling without custom classes now can we?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How about a little peek under the hood?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Custom content is great, but what about the real ones in the back?

Refer to the "Relations" tab at the top of this page. Each mod can be viewed individually and link back to their original authors.
