The version(s) the reviewer played

The world gen is reworked and just looks and feels so much cooler. Many QoL changes and fixes; little things which feel so right. The custom content seemlessly adds so much life to the pack. Also, much better performance. So it's a no brainer playing this instead of the original.

Why play Liminal Industries (any version) at all? Personally, I've never enjoyed exploration so much. The quest book is exquisite (especially in this version). It's like a sandbox, generated, Complete The Monument map where the challenge is building infrastructure and industry in the backrooms. The backrooms is indestructible, and finding solutions for building your contraptions in a predefined, often cramped and maze like space is a constant source of fun. In this version, big open spaces are rarer. This is great aesthetically (to create contrast), and I recommend not basing in them so that you get to build in interesting, restrictive spaces. Go in blind, you will have a unique, genuine, awesome experience!

Changelist:

PERFORMANCE CHANGES AND BUG FIXES

  • Migrates all mcfunctions to kubejs scripts with minimal command usage.
  • Massive world changes; complete rewrite of the worldgen system, using a physical node block based grid system instead of marker entities. Also reworked how schematics are placed to ease generational lag, with a custom performance mod made by SdataG.
  • Fixed many issues and stabilised existing features using clever kubejs scripting.

NEW CONTENT AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

  • Adds many community made rooms, and a new starting sector; Minor changes to existing rooms.
  • Adds other custom content made and suggested by the community directly.
  • Many quality of life changes, and visual overhauls.
  • Many new ways to obtain existing items, and items that were originally unobtainable.
  • Many new features alongside existing ones that were rewritten.
  • Many new quests added, chapter 2.5 for the library, and an extension to chapter 3.5 for the poolrooms.
  • New ways to modify the backrooms environment, allowing for the swapping of floors.
  • Overhauled circuit breakers which now control a room's lighting and the furniture around them.

OTHER MAJOR CHANGES FROM THE BASE PACK

  • Sculk changes; Deals damage over time instead of giving annoying effects.
  • Removed Nether Portals; Replaced it's functionality with other features.
  • Waystones found around the backrooms, and new parkour abilities.
  • Overhauled worldgen. Sector size is increased so they are found further out, and many sectors overlap each other, creating the possibility of smooth and interesting generation.

THE ROOM FORGE

  • Completely rewrote and ported over the room forge to the current versions of Liminal Industries.
  • This allows community members to easily build and modify room schematics.

NOTE: THIS LIST IS GENERALISED AND NOT LIMITED TO WHAT YOU SEE

Most features are not mentioned here specifically, as there are way too many to list. A more detailed list of changes is found under every uploaded file.
