About

Description

mi·nu·ti·ae
/məˈn(y)o͞oSHēˌē,məˈn(y)o͞oSHēˌī/
plural noun
the small, precise, or trivial details of something.

Minutiae is an expansive 'vanilla plus' styled pack which seeks to expand upon and 'spice up' the survival experience in no particular direction.
Minutiae generally avoids adding complex gameplay elements that do not fit the vanilla theme.
Minutiae instead focuses on many, small additions in various areas of the game, hence the name.
It is inspired by modpacks like Life in the Village, FTB Builders Paradise, and Crucial.

Features:

The full mod list can be found in the 'Relations' tab as Dependencies.

Minutiae is best enjoyed together with friends.

Installation (Twitch launcher)

You can install Minutiae by simply going to 'Mods' > 'Minecraft' > 'Browse Modpacks' and searching for it there. Just wait for it to install and you are good to go.

Installation (MultiMC)

MultiMC is a free and open-source alternative Minecraft launcher that makes it easier to manage multiple Minecraft instances. You can download it at https://multimc.org/.

  • Once you have it installed and set up, click on 'Add Instance' > 'Import from zip'.
  • To get the link, go to Minutiae's CurseForge page, click on the most recent file, and click 'Download'.
  • Copy the link, paste it into MultiMC, and add '/file' at the end.
  • The link should look something like this: 'https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/minutia/download/XXXXXXX/file'.
  • Press 'OK' and wait for it to download.

Installation (Vanilla launcher with CMPDL)

Curse Modpack Downloader is a tool made by Vazkii (the author of popular mods including Botania and Quark) that serves as a lightweight alternative to the Twitch launcher for downloading Minecraft modpacks. There exists two versions, the original by Vazkii, as well as a more user-friendly fork by Franckyi. The guide below references Franckyi's fork.

  • Once you have CMPDL set up, simply paste Minutiae's CurseForge link ('https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/minutiae') and click 'Next'.
  • Select the latest release, click 'Next' and select an installation folder. Click 'Start' and wait until it finishes.
  • Once it finishes downloading, don't forget to download the recommended Forge version at https://files.minecraftforge.net/.
  • After that, open up the Minecraft launcher go to 'Installations' > 'New...' and set the game directory to where you downloaded Minutiae.

Additional Performance Tweaks

  • 3GB of allocated RAM is the minimum to run Minutiae. 4-6GB is recommended for a smoother experience. A server requires less allocated RAM than a client and can run with as little as 2GB.
  • Optifine may be installed to add additional visual tweaks, as long as Fast Render and Smooth World are disabled. Get it at: https://optifine.net/downloads.
  • If you do use Optifine, 'Trees: Smart' and 'Dynamic Lights' are recommended to be enabled. Shaders are semi-compatible as they may run into issues with some mods, though crashes are unlikely.
  • Disabling Better Foliage's leaves and grass modules may improve FPS significantly.
  • SmoothFont may be configured to improve performance and reduce RAM usage.
  • You may need to test out which BetterFPS algorithm works best for your computer. To do so, find 'BetterFps-XXX.jar' in Minutiae's 'mods' folder and simply run it. Select 'Test Algorithms' and wait for the result. Repeat this several times and select the one that performs the best on average.
  • Make sure you use the latest version of Java 8.

Some purely cosmetic mods can be safely disabled/removed to increase performance, including:

  • BetterFoliage
  • SmoothFont
  • Dynamic Surroundings
  • Sound Filters
  • MAGE
  • Better Animations Collection 2

Java Arguments

Here is a collection of JVM arguments which may help to improve performance and RAM usage.

Your mileage may vary - some may see a bigger improvement than others - test each one to see which works best for you.

Be sure to adjust your RAM allocation accordingly.
