Description
One Block to Rule Them All
The world did not end in fire. It ended in forgetting.
A story-driven OneBlock modpack for NeoForge 1.21.1. Every quest comes with a reason: the Oneblock is remembering the world out loud, and you are the Keeper who rebuilds it.
It is a long pack: roughly ten acts, 190+ quests, and many hours of play. Each tier of the Oneblock unlocks when you finish its quest, so the story sets the pace. But this is not a pack where you break one block for the whole game. The quests set give you problems, and the block alone will not solve them. You are expected to think sideways, trade, automate and build your own answers.
The Lore
Long ago the Ender Dragon grew tired of guarding a barren island at the edge of everything. It learned to feed on something richer than void: the world's memory. Every forest, river, village and cave was held together by the world remembering itself, and the Dragon devoured it one biome at a time. Scholars called it the Unmaking.
Before the last chunk fell, every engineer, mage and tinkerer poured everything they knew into a single block: the seeds, the stones, the ores, the creatures and the blueprints of every machine. They called it the Oneblock. The Dragon could not eat it, but the Oneblock cannot restore the world by itself. It needs a pair of hands.
You wake on a single block of grass hanging in an endless dark. Break it, and it becomes something new: dirt, a log, stone. The Oneblock is not giving you resources. It is handing the world back to you, one memory at a time.
The Six Memories
Each act is a phase of the block and ends with a Memory Shard:
- Soil (Plains, Forest): farming, food and your first home. Shard of Growth.
- Gears (Underground, Caves): Create. Waterwheels, presses, brass and a contraption that breaks the block for you. Shard of Motion.
- The Deep (Ocean, Lush Caves): Mystical Agriculture. Grow mana itself. Shard of Life.
- Fire (the Nether): Mekanism, Oritech and Actually Additions. Real power, reactors and ore processing. Shard of Flame.
- Thought (Ancient City, Deep Dark): Applied Energistics 2 and friends. Store the whole world in crystal. Shard of Memory.
- The End: the Oneblock was never just restoring the world. It was building a door.
The Devourer
Beyond the portal the End is full of the ghosts of everything the Dragon swallowed: half-dissolved mountains, a village frozen mid-collapse, a river hanging in the air. The Keeper brings everything the six ages taught and fights the Dragon for the Dragon's Heart, the world's memory of itself, still whole.
The Worldseed
Combine six shards, the Heart, a reactor core, a storage cell and a binding of dragon breath into the Worldseed, then plant it in the Oneblock. Real terrain grows outward from your island over several minutes: forests, rivers, caves full of ore, biomes, and often a village with villagers and an iron golem to greet you. Depending on where it lands, the restored world can include newer touches too, such as falling leaves, fallen trees, bushes and the Pale Garden. Nothing you built is touched. The world was not restored around your work. It was restored because of it.
After that comes Act X: The Restored World: bees, oil gushing from the ground, maps and a world to explore, plus optional branches to build new power (crude oil, canola oil and the sun), a big multiblock Foundry, and the crystals of Actually Additions.
Think Outside the Block
The Oneblock gives you raw materials, never the answer. Getting from one memory to the next means solving puzzles:
- Build your own solutions. Need more ore than the block gives? A cobblestone generator (Create, lava and water) can feed a millstone, then a sifter, and turn the same blocks into far more. Need something nobody hands you? Design the machine that makes it.
- Trade. Traders appear near your island and sell things you cannot easily make, often for materials the block gives plenty of. Look at what they offer before you plan anything. A trader picks its offers when it appears, so if the one you need is missing, a fresh trader may roll a different set.
- Find the loophole. The obvious recipe is sometimes the hard way. Crushing Wheels in Act III are a good example: the crafting recipe asks for a big grid of mechanical crafters, which needs materials you won't have yet. There is a much easier route.
- Sift, farm, craft and automate. Sifting gravel, sand and dirt, growing crops and mana, and long crafting chains are all part of the toolbox. Some of the best answers are the ones nobody planned.
- Use your tools. JEI and Advanced Loot Info show recipes, drops and chances. Reading them is part of the game.
There is almost always more than one way to get a thing. Finding yours is the point.
- If you are stuck, ask what you could build, trade for or automate. The block is only the beginning.
Features
- A full FTB Quests book: Prologue, Acts I to X, The Devourer, and optional side quests, with a story reason behind every task.
- A custom NeoBlock progression: ten tiers, each unlocked by finishing a quest.
- Custom story items: six Memory Shards, the Dragon's Heart, the Seed's Heart and the Worldseed.
- A one-time world restoration that clones real vanilla terrain (with villages, caves and ores) around the Oneblock without altering anything the player built.
- A touch of newer Minecraft: Vanilla Backport adds the Pale Garden, the Creaking, fallen trees, falling leaves, bushes and more, and Copper Age Backport adds copper tools, armor and the Copper Golem.
- Traders and chests tuned so that every quest item can be obtained at the point it is asked for, from the block, a trader, or something you build.
- Advanced Loot Info shows loot tables and drop chances in-game.
- Shader support (Iris and Sodium) with Complementary Reimagined and Unbound included. Shaders are off by default.
Included Mods (highlights)
Create (with Sifter, Connected, Encased), Mystical Agriculture and Agradditions, Mekanism, Oritech, Actually Additions, Applied Energistics 2 (with ExtendedAE, Applied Flux, Applied Mekanistics, Create Applied Kinetics), Productive Metalworks, Farmer's Delight, Iron Furnaces, Iron Jetpacks, Just Dire Things, Sophisticated Storage, Waystones, FTB Quests / Chunks / Ultimine, Vanilla Backport, Copper Age Backport, JEI and more.
Notes
- This pack has been played by a small group. Please report bugs and unclear quests.
- Create a new world to play. The Worldseed finale takes several minutes and is meant to be left running.
- Don't break blocks while the Worldseed finale is running, you won't get drops.
- Stuck on a quest item? Check the traders first (see above), then JEI.
- Recommended memory: 6 to 8 GB. Shaders are heavy, so expect lower frame rates on weaker GPUs.
