Progress:Create - GotA Edition
No reviews yet
Gears of the Arcane tweaks to the pack Progress:Create, mostly for my friends server.
Themed around heavy machinery, factories, and automation reminiscent of the Industrial Revolution.
Themed around Victorian-era technology (steampunk) or early 20th-century technology (dieselpunk) with a retro-futuristic twist.
Themed around magical elements, mythical creatures, and enchanted worlds, often inspired by fantasy literature and folklore.
Focuses on automation and resource processing through scientific and mechanical means, utilizing systems like electricity (RF/FE/etc), air pressure, or rotation.
Centers around fantasy elements such as spells, rituals, and magical energies, often involving personal empowerment and magical automation.
Features a blend of magic and tech themes in a more Sci-Fi style, either in a "magic like tech" or "tech indistinguishable from magic" setting.
Includes quests that drive progression, whether through a quest book, NPC, or other in world source.
Includes a custom backstory, written world-building, or narrative writing within the project or through external content.
Ideal for small groups of players or cooperative gameplay.
Fabric is a mod loader for versions 1.14+ of Minecraft, particularly popular for client side and optimization mods.

Gears of the Arcane Presents
Progress Create GotA Edition
What is different?
My friends and I have been playing this pack by Hobo Joe for a little while now. My friends asked for some additional mods to be added and was quickly becoming a bit cumbersome to explain to everyone what to do, where to put configs, etc. I've also been meaning to get pack into pack development, so I decided to use this opportunity to shake off the rust. I don't want to make any major changes to this pack, as I want to try and maintain the original pack's vision. Anything unique to this pack will be stored in the FTB Quests category GotA*.
Included in the download is a more detailed list of changes in the file GotAChangelog. The short version is: removed certain dimensional terrain gen mods, namely the better X series; some balance changes to other mods; added a hand full of mods, most of which adding nothing the end user will notice, but should help with actually connecting to the server on bad hardware; and updated a bunch of mods as well.
* Currently only available on the official server. Will be added once I feel they're clear enough.
What is GotA?
Gears of the Arcane is more or less it is just my Modpack Tagline. Think like FTB. I believe the only still existing modpack is for 1.6.4 on the minecraft forums. It was born out of an idea to make a pack universe. Where you take up various roles inside of a bigger organization. The organization "Gears of teh Arcane" is a group of technomancers that use magic to augment their technology and vice versa. A lot of inspiration comes from mods like Botania and Thaumcraft where these mods blend automation and magic together. Packs like FTB Infinity and Project Ozone where the pack feels more like a single idea than a collection of mods.
This pack is probably non-cannon but the "Lore" of this pack follows as "The technomancer you are an assistant to attempted to open a portal to another dimension for the purposes of finding useful artifacts for the guild. Upon stepping through the portal you attempted to go back through but it appears the portal is one way. Thankfully your imbued GUIDE was designed for these kinds of situations. (Sure would be a bad plot device if it wasn't, eh?) Allowing you to stay in contact with the Technomancer. You've been tasked with gathering research from this new plane both to see if new technology can be found and perhaps to just simply pass time while you wait. Interplanar travel does cause some weird time distortion after all."
Permissions
Would like to thank Hobo Joe and his team for the majority of the pack. I can't stress enough that most of this pack is their work. I have asked there explicit permission to upload this pack.
