A modpack combining RLCraft and Pixelmon -- the crossover no one asked for. Takes the brutal difficulty of RLCraft and combines it with the world of Pixelmon.

About

Description

This modpack is the unholy child of Pixelmon and RLCraft, with a few edits to make it slightly easier. This pack combines two of the most popular Minecraft modpacks -- both of which have no business being played together. However, it's actually more fun than you might expect! While Pixelmon plays almost no real role in the progression of RLCraft, the additional challenge of trying to catch Pokemon while surviving in the harsh world of RLCraft is truly an interesting experience.

As far as important changes go, here is a list of important changes and notes to know about the pack before going in:

  • Antique Atlas was removed due to a bug where markers could not be deleted once they were added to an atlas. It has been replaced by Xaero's Minimap and Xaero's Worldmap.
  • Corail Tombstone has been included in this pack. While it does make the pack significantly easier due to items being stored in an easily accessible tombstone upon death, it also adds some interesting items. If you find the pack to be too easy because of its inclusion, then feel free to delete the mod from the pack. This also adds raids for villages, so special zombie raiders will periodically attack villages.
  • Pokemon in this pack are aggressive, and will initiate battles with you, which means that there will be many times that you will be put into a bad situation due to a Pokemon starting a battle with you. While players are both ignored by enemies and immune to damage while in battle with a Pokémon, there is a short period once a battle ends where you will become vulnerable and unable to move or control your character. This means that it is generally safer to avoid starting battles with Pokemon.
  • On the flipside, Pokemon can be hurt by regular attacks, so many hostile mobs will also attack Pokémon. Due to Pokemon not being able to physically attack, they are unable to fight back if a mob attacks them. This allows for Pokemon to be more integrated into the world. Additionally, this means that players can physically attack Pokemon. If you physically attack a Pokemon, they will try to initiate a Pokemon battle with you, but if you either one-shot the Pokemon or do not have any available Pokemon for battle, then you can attack them for free.
  • Legendary Pokemon, Shiny Pokemon, and Boss Pokemon spawn rates are much higher than by base. This way of playing Pixelmon isn't meant to be a boring grindfest you'd find on some garbage P2W Pixelmon server. You can find Shiny, Legendary, and Boss Pokemon all over the place.
  • Pokemon can be ridden without them knowing Fly or Surf, but they can barely be controlled, and you'll basically need for your Pokemon to know these moves to be effectively used as a mount. Due to how difficult getting a Pokemon that knows one these moves can be, it would usually be better to get a regular RLCraft mount or method of travel.
  • I've added level requirements for some Pixelmon items to prevent players from getting powerful gear easily and without needing to level their Reskillable skills.
  • The Global Game Rules config for disabling players' ability to see mob hitboxes and chunk boundaries has been changed. Due to how Pixelmon crops are limited to a certain number per chunk, I thought it was important that players have the ability to actually see the chunk boundaries.
  • Enchanting Plus was added to the pack. This mod allows for players to select the enchantments they'd like from the enchanting table at the cost of much more experience. This has limits though, but it serves to bypass the boring, RNG grind that comes with trying to get enchantments in the mid and late game.

Immense credits to Shivaxi and the RLCraft team, as well as to the Pixelmon development team. These two modpacks have given me so much fun and good memories, and this combination of the two is my way of showing my love for them. If you like this modpack, please show your support to the developers of the two packs from which it was made. They have done the real work here and deserve all the credit.
