4444 is a content-light modpack designed around the characteristic Minecraft experience. There are no quests; the player is given no distinct goal, as is the case with vanilla Minecraft. Jade is included, but only for the purpose of identifying creatures. The onus for progression is on player discovery, guided somewhat by ruined structures and the surrounding terrain. Certain ores and items required for progression can only be found in specific parts of the world. A great emphasis is placed on exploration and technical evolution.
There are four main tenets of this pack: Cuisine, Magic, Technology, and World. Respectively, these are held by Farmer's Delight, Ars Nouveau, Create, and Biomes O' Plenty, with plenty of bleedover between these mods. Several addons for each are included to enhance the breadth of the modpack, including The Aether, Ars Creo, Overweight Farming, Serene Seasons, and more. Plenty of QoL/performance mods have also been added. However, the depth is still limited by how accessible each recipe is. No grinding! The only contradiction of this principle is with end-game materials, which are only attainable by a considerable amount of exploring and resource-gathering. Tetra support is, of course, included.
There is also a great focus on cross-compatibility. With few exceptions, recipes have been flattened (i.e., Farmer's Delight working with Create, and certain drops changed), and some have been changed to better include modded content.
