Description

Silent Depths — A Deep Horror-Survival Experience
Silent Depths transforms Minecraft into an oppressive horror-survival experience where safety is temporary and preparation matters. Every distant sound, abandoned structure, and journey underground carries the possibility of something going terribly wrong.
Early survival is about listening carefully, choosing your battles, and making every supply count. If you endure, stronger equipment, automation, and real firepower gradually give you the means to fight back—without removing the danger that defines the pack.

Important Note — Version 1.0
Silent Depths 1.0 is a complete and playable release, but the pack is still being actively refined. Most major issues have been addressed, while future updates will continue improving balance, performance, compatibility, and overall stability.
Player feedback remains an important part of development. If you encounter a problem, report it through the Silent Depths Discord with the information listed in the Community section.

The world is designed to keep you listening.
-
Dynamic ambient audio, distant environmental sounds, and visual effects create constant tension.
-
Horror-focused encounters keep familiar areas from becoming completely predictable.
-
Realism-leaning interactions make exploration feel heavier and less forgiving.
-
Silence matters—what you hear may be just as important as what you see.

There is always a reason to go farther—and a reason to fear doing it.
-
Discover ruins, dungeons, structures, and abandoned locations throughout the world.
-
Enter expanded underground danger zones that reward preparation and punish carelessness.
-
Plan longer expeditions where supplies, inventory space, and escape routes genuinely matter.
-
The world is deliberately designed to resist feeling completely safe.

Progress is earned, not handed to you.
-
Advance through meaningful gear progression with new weapons, tools, equipment, and survival mechanics.
-
Face a slower and more deliberate power curve that supports the horror experience.
-
Improve your inventory and equipment to prepare for longer, more dangerous expeditions.
-
Become stronger without instantly outgrowing the threats around you.

Survive long enough, and you can begin taking control.
Silent Depths includes a complete late-game technology path for players who manage to establish themselves.
-
Generate power and automate resource processing.
-
Develop farming, production, storage, and resource systems.
-
Build a stable base capable of supporting long-term survival.
-
Unlock stronger equipment and better preparation options.
-
Earn the ability to fight back instead of running forever.

Choose the atmosphere that fits your system.
Silent Depths includes five shader-quality presets:
-
Ultra
-
High
-
Medium — Recommended
-
Low
-
Performance
Medium is intended for most players. Shader performance varies significantly depending on your GPU, CPU, resolution, render distance, and the area being explored. If Medium is not stable, switch to Low or Performance before changing other settings.

Recommended RAM Allocation: 8–9 GB
Silent Depths includes performance patches and carefully tuned configurations, but it remains a large horror modpack.
Memory usage may spike during launch and world loading. Depending on the content loaded and explored, usage will often settle near approximately 5 GB after 10–20 minutes of play.
Observed performance using the pack’s default settings:
-
AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX: Approximately 300 FPS, often higher when uncapped.
-
AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT: Approximately 200 FPS.
These results are not guaranteed performance targets. Resolution, render distance, shader preset, CPU performance, world generation, background applications, and individual hardware configurations can all affect performance.

Silent Depths 1.0 is still being polished.
The following issues are currently known:
-
Brief lag spikes may occur during exploration, new-chunk generation, or scenes with heavy visual effects.
-
Some TaCZ gun packs, including Elite X Quality Guns, may cause weapon-specific FPS drops—especially when shaders are enabled.
-
Certain weapons may crash the game when equipped on some systems. The SPAS-12 is one reported example.
-
Avoid any weapon that repeatedly causes severe frame loss or crashes until its related pack is patched or updated.
-
Shader performance varies considerably between systems. Low or Performance may be necessary on lower-end hardware.
These issues are actively being investigated as Silent Depths continues to evolve.
