About
Description
The design philosophy for this modpack was "the first step always works"
Many modpacks aimed at more experienced players gate powerful items or mods behind other less powerful ones. However, for players new to modded it can be frustrating to know which of these powerful items or mods they should work towards first. On the other hand, pure kitchen sink modpacks often make it too easy for experienced players to get their hands on late game production capabilities or equipment by simply following one mod to its end.
This modpack aims to find a middle ground between these positions. Players can get started on most mods right away, enabling them to try out several to see what they fancy. Higher tier items however are often gated beyond progress in other mods.
Features:
- A large variety of mods including most fan favourites
- A Questbook aimed at players new to modded with 300 Quests
- Interweaving of mods through many updated recipes
- An exploration focus culminating in access to ProjectE
Notes:
The modpack should run well with 4-6GB ram assigned. It contains many performance improving mods making the kitchen sink experience less painful on the machine. If you want better loading times it is recommended to disable Decocraft. Optifine comes highly recommended though it can't be included with the modpack due to licensing issues. If you decide against using Optifine consider enabling Faerie Lights. It is disable by default as it causes a crash when used in conjunction with Optifine.
Why 1.7.10?
Truth be told, much of this project came from wanting to play all the old Thaumcraft add-ons again, many of which sadly never got ported to newer versions. Also I don't plan on maintaining this project much after the first few months, so choosing a version where mods are unlikely to update still also has some pragmatic reasons.
