Survival Recaptured is a modpack completely designed around capturing the full potential of Survival Mode, and recapturing that feeling of expansiveness and adventure you may have lost.

It completely reworks the way you play by changing how easily you get to the Nether and the End.

To enter the Nether, you must repair the Seal of the Underworld by searching for the Seal Corners and Nether Crystal, all of which are found in various places in the Overworld.

As for the End, 12 unique Eyes of Ender are hidden in different areas of the game. You must use these to fill the End Portal, and only then can you face the dragon.

My vision for this modpack is to help force a slower playstyle, by lengthening the vanilla progression and adding as many fun things to do along the way. There's a ton of trinkets and gear to collect, and lots of exploration to be done. All worked together to feel as close to Vanilla while still modifying the worse aspects of Survival.

You should play this modpack with a slow mindset, and enjoy simply exploring, building, creating infrastructure and goofing around. Let yourself relax and have fun, since there's no more rushing to get an elytra because it's physically impossible to speedrun this modpack.

Almost every other system in the game has been revamped to make the gap between these goals as engaging as possible. Here's my favourite reworks:

  • Enchanting now requires you to find enchanted books and "learn" them, combining multiple of the same book together to learn higher levels. Each level of an enchant requires different materials to aquire, pushing you out into the world to upgrade your gear instead of abusing villager farms.
  • Iron and Diamond are harder to get in the early game and more valuable in the late game, needing specific Upgrade Templates to level up lower-tier tools. Again, exploration is the key to progression instead of simply just mining. Also Smithing Templates in general are cheaper to duplicate.
  • Every armor set has been made more useful, except Iron, with each giving you specific bonuses when equipped. For example, Leather is used for exploring, giving you a speed boost and allowing for better manouvering, Gold allows extra reach and Haste, and Chainmail is more early game, granting you a reduced attack cooldown.
  • Enhanced AI gives every mob a new AI and mechanics. Zombies sometimes spawn with tools, letting them break blocks, reel you in with fishing rods or teleport with Ender Pearls. Creepers occasionally cannonball onto you from a distance. Spiders can spawn with Creepers or Zombies on their backs, creating much more stressful fights.

This modpack also includes:

  • Overhauled generation for the Overworld, Nether and End with new unique biomes in each, thanks to Terralith, Incendium and Nullscape.
  • A rebalance to almost every single loot table in the game
  • A reworked Advancement Tree, useful for finding your way around the modpack's largest changes easier.
  • New designs for the majority of structures, helping to create a fresher experience. Plus a few new locations.
  • An accessory system, with tons of new trinkets to play around with.
  • A backport of the Trial Chambers.
  • And much more!

You may play by some extra rules if you wish, to enhance the other parts of the game. These are fully optional!

  • Play with a slow mindset - don't rush and have fun messing around
  • Only build Nether portals at Ruined Portals
  • Avoid making farms that abuse game mechanics in unintended or unbalanced ways (Villager breeders, Villager trading halls, AFK fishing farms, raid farms, ect.) Most of the overpowered farms have been nerfed, but most farms are fine
  • Avoid looking up solutions to problems and farms - figure it out yourself and come up with your own design
  • Avoid enchanting for other people - if they don't have an enchant unlocked then don't do it for them (You can still trade enchanting books)
