I played this way back in the day, so I may be looking back at this with either rose tinted or sepia tinted glasses, but I thoroughly enjoyed the pack despite not getting too far into it. Given the age of the pack, it feels like a sort of proto-progression pack, where there's still a bit of the old philosophy of mashed together mods, but at the same time there's also a decent amount of the modern pack making philosophy of making a cohesive whole from the added mods.
In that way, the questbook is easily a highlight given its scope and lore-included writing style, and the ideas present in the pack are really quite enjoyable. I fell off before reaching the true endgame, but for an old pack that uses most of the mods you would expect for the version, it still surprised me with how well things fit together and were mixed up.
If you enjoy the modern sensibilities but miss some of that old-school jank, it's worth at least taking a look and having a good time.
Plus, the art is cute. :3

The ages system is really well handled, introducing new mods, mobs, ores, and mechanics in a very enjoyable drip-feed of content. It really feels like a similar system to terraria, for the first couple of ages, and in a very good way. Some of the later ages (namely, most things post-plastic) are not quite so fun given the high resource costs and relatively inaccessible automation, as well as the fact that you begin to run out of places to explore and the content well starts to run dry.
There are some less enjoyable parts of the early game, namely most of the biome hunting that has to be done, though you eventually get through it and it's not so bad. Absolutely love the pack otherwise though, feels very cohesive!
Highly recommend playing this on a server with friends.

Played it a bit with my friend on a self-hosted server. Was very impressed that I could have both a server and client open without any major hiccups in performance despite a middling rig. Terrafirmacraft is one of my favorite mods of all time, and this is my first experience with the modern remakes. I must say, I'm very impressed by both the TFC and the TFG devs, they both did wonderful. I'm always glad to see a fairly consistent art direction, and TFG delivers on that pretty well, besides a couple hiccups when transitioning from low-tech to high-tech.

All that however brings me to an issue that I specifically seemed to be having with the modpack, where occasionally my pack would stop working due to a broken mod or I would be unable to connect to my own server due to misaligned mods / kubejs. This was solved by pasting the kubejs scripts in directly from the TFG github, though the fact that this problem occured at all is quite odd. Even more strangely, my co-op partner never experienced the same thing despite playing on the same server and everything. Oh well, atleast the performance was excellent in every other regard.

This modpack definitely needs a few performance mods, or maybe a bit of trimmed fat as far as the mods it encompasses. While my rig isn't exactly super beefy, it isn't exactly a slouch either, yet I still had to suffer through the classic 15+ minute load screen and world load screen only to enter a pack that struggled whenever you load new chunks. Not exactly thrilling for a modpack with a major exploration focus.

Meatballcraft on its surface suffers from the same issue that many mod-dense packs suffer with, that being an overall lack of cohesion and extremely difficult to grasp early game. Unfortunately that along with all of the clashing textures was what turned me off the pack after a couple hours. That being said, it's clear that a huge amount of attention has been paid to the mid and late game, with a cursory glance and some modpack expertise telling me that the pack has a few hundred hours of content at the minimum, maybe up to a couple thousand. Maybe it's just not for me.
