Description

Actually Floating End Islands

Actually Floating End Islands turns small End islands into free-floating physics bodies that bob gently in zero gravity — a mystical "space" reinterpretation of the dimension you already know, powered by the Sable sub-level physics library.

This is primarily an atmosphere and visual mod. Out of the box, islands drift and bob peacefully — no dependencies required. Want to actually pilot them around? Install Create: Aeronautics and mount propellers on an island to fly it through the void yourself.

Features

Automatic island conversion Small End islands — anything under a configurable connected-block threshold — are automatically detected and converted into Sable physics sub-levels as their chunks load. This works retroactively on existing worlds too, so you don't need a fresh End dimension to see it in action.

A ring of dormant satellites A deterministic, seed-derived ring of small end-stone islands generates around the central dragon-fight island. They sit still until something pushes them — silent, waiting satellites scattered through the void.

Structures set adrift Free-floating pieces of allowlisted structures — most notably the End Ship — get an extended size allowance so they qualify as drifting sub-levels too, letting entire structures become part of the floating world. Configurable via convertStructures, structureMaxBlockCount, and structureAllowlist.

True Newtonian drift The End's physics are zero gravity, zero drag. Push an island and it drifts at a constant velocity until something acts on it again — no invisible friction slowing things down. Spin is moderately damped with a hard cap, so off-center pushes settle into a gentle drift instead of tumbling forever.

Ambient bobbing Every registered island bobs slowly up and down — a phase-shifted sine wave layered on top of its velocity. It's purely cosmetic: zero net drift, so it never fights against pushes, momentum, or braking.

Propeller-driven flight (optional) Mount Create: Aeronautics propellers on an island and thrust flows straight through Sable's propeller pipeline. This mod ships no thruster block of its own — it's built to complement Aeronautics, not duplicate it. Strong angular damping and a low spin cap keep off-center thrust from flipping your island.

Docking Remote A safety-net item that brings the island you're standing on — or looking at — to a full, immediate stop. No island is ever unrecoverably lost to a bad push.

Requirements

  • NeoForge 1.21.1
  • Sable — required at runtime
  • Create: Aeronauticsoptional, only needed if you want to actively pilot islands

Configuration

  • Minimum block count for island registration (default: 16 blocks — keeps stray single blocks from becoming physics objects)
  • Ambient bob amplitude and period (or disable entirely)
  • Structure conversion toggle, max block count, and allowlist
  • Angular damping and spin cap for propeller-driven flight

Islands containing bedrock, End gateways, portal blocks, or the vanilla obsidian spawn platform are never converted, no matter their size.

Notes

Zero gravity and zero drag apply dimension-wide through Sable's dimension_physics system, which also neutralizes Sable's built-in end-stone hover-lift — giving the End a clean, weightless feel from the ground up.

Propeller-driven flight (optional) Mount Create: Aeronautics propellers on an island and thrust flows straight through to move it. This mod ships no thruster block of its own — it's built to complement Aeronautics, not duplicate it. Strong angular damping and a low spin cap keep off-center thrust from flipping your island.

Docking Remote A safety-net item that brings the island you're standing on — or looking at — to a full, immediate stop, intended as a quick recovery tool if a push sends an island somewhere unwanted.
