About
Description
Spawners break after spawning a set number of mobs. A dungeon spawner turned into an XP farm doesn't run forever, so spawners stay something you use up rather than an endless source.
Fabric port of Ageing Spawners by Mrbysco, which only exists for NeoForge. For Minecraft 1.21.1, 1.21.11, 26.2 and 26.3. Please report bugs here.
How it works
Every spawner counts the mobs it spawns. When it reaches the limit, it breaks. Only mobs that actually appear count, and only spawner blocks age, not spawner minecarts. The count is saved with the spawner, so restarting the server doesn't reset it.
By default every mob counts and a spawner survives 20 spawns. You can change that per mob.
Config
config/ageingspawners.properties:
spawnerMode:BLACKLIST(every mob ages spawners except those you list) orWHITELIST(only the mobs you list do). DefaultBLACKLIST.blacklistMaxSpawnCountandwhitelistMaxSpawnCount: how many spawns a spawner survives. Default 20.whitelist: for exampleminecraft:zombie;50,minecraft:pig. A number after;sets the limit for that mob.blacklist: for exampleminecraft:blaze, minecraft:silverfish.playerPlacedOnly: only spawners placed by a player age. Spawners that came with the world are left alone.enabled: turn it off without removing the mod.
Differences from the original
- The default is
BLACKLISTmode, so spawners age as soon as you install it. The original starts with an empty whitelist and ages nothing until you configure it. - The on/off switch is the
enabledconfig option instead of a game rule.
FAQ
Client or server? The server needs it (or your game, in singleplayer). Players don't need it to join.
Does it need anything else? No, not even Fabric API.
NeoForge? Use the original Ageing Spawners.
How is it tested? Game tests run a spawner that spawns every tick next to a player. A mob on the list has to break it after exactly 3 spawns, a mob that isn't listed has to leave it standing, and the count has to survive saving and loading the spawner. They run on all four Minecraft versions.
Can I use it in my modpack? Yes, go ahead, no need to ask.
MIT, like the original. Developed with AI assistance. Source: https://github.com/traelmyx/ageing-spawners-fabric
