Lure of Anything

Customize Mob AI to make any mob attracted to any item, block, or player. The ultimate tool for mob farming, automated herding, and decoy-based defense. Server-side, lightweight, and fully configurable.

Total Control Over Mob AI. You Decide What They're Drawn To.

Ever wished you could guide mobs exactly where you want them? What if you could turn any item into a powerful beacon, or any block into an irresistible bait? From the creator of Fear of Anything, Lure of Anything is its powerful counterpart, giving you complete control over mob attraction.

This server-side mod allows you to create attraction rules for any mob in the game, including those from other mods. Make Zombies swarm a block of gold, guide animals to a pen using a specific flower, or lure a powerful modded boss into a trap with a custom-named item. With support for NBT data and block states, the possibilities for hyper-efficient farms, creative automation, and strategic gameplay are truly limitless.

Key Features

  • 🧠 Customizable Mob AI: The core of the mod. Gain precise control over mob pathfinding by defining what attracts them. A game-changer for technical players and modpack creators.
  • 🎯 Target Any Mob (with NBT Support): Add any mob from vanilla or mods to an attraction group. Lure all skeletons, or only skeletons holding a specific enchanted bow.
  • 🗡️ Lure of Items (with NBT Support): Make mobs hunt for a player holding an item, or pathfind towards an item on the ground. This includes modded items and NBT data, allowing you to create things like a "Zombie-Calling Bell."
  • 🧱 Lure of Blocks (with Block State Support): Designate any block as a lure. The system can check for specific block states, allowing you to create a lure that only activates when a lever is powered:true.
  • 🩸 Lure of Bloods (with Extra Gore Support): By default, undead mobs will be attracted to the blood puddle.
  • ⚙️ Simple TOML Configuration: All rules are created in an easy-to-edit .toml config file. This makes configuration incredibly flexible and straightforward for server owners and pack makers.
  • 🚀 Server-Side & Lightweight: The mod runs entirely on the server, so players don't need to install it. The AI checks are highly optimized for minimal performance impact, ensuring a smooth experience on any server.

What Will You Create?

This is a sandbox for your creativity. Here are just a few ideas:

  • Hyper-Efficient Mob Farms: Forget waiting for mobs to wander into your grinder. Use a single block as bait to pull every mob in a huge radius directly into your collection system for maximum efficiency.
  • Precise Mob Herding: Guide Creepers away from your base with a decoy block, or lead a group of sheep into a pen for shearing using a specific "shepherd's block."
  • Decoy-Based Defense: Instead of walls, build traps! Place a "lure block" in the center of a pit or lava moat and watch as mobs willingly march to their doom.
  • Adventure Map & Quest Design: Create a quest where the player must find a "Sacred Conch" to lure a powerful sea monster out of its temple to retrieve a key.
  • Automated Taming & Breeding: Place an animal's favorite food as a block (e.g., a "Hay Bale Lure" for cows) to automatically attract them into a breeding pen from the wild.

FAQ

Q: How do I configure the mobs and their lures? A: All configuration is done using the config file. You'll edit the mod's luremod-common.toml file found in your config folder to define everything.

Q: Does this work with mobs and items from other mods? A: Yes, 100%. You can target any registered mob, item, or block using its ID (e.g., thermal:blizz, ars_nouveau:source_gem). The NBT and block state support ensures deep compatibility.

Q: Is this for Forge or Fabric? A: This mod is currently available for Forge.

Q: Will this lag my server? A: No. The mod was built with performance as a top priority. The AI scanning is efficient and lightweight, making it safe for servers of all sizes.
