About
Description

This mod is mostly obsolete with Spell Engine 1.9+! Use it only if you want the combat tweaks, or some of the extra abilities, animations, etc.
Basic Skill Sets is a mod that adds at least one basic skill to each weapon in the game.
Each skill comes with custom animations and is powered by the Spell Engine API to mimic classic and novel RPG skills.
By default, only one skill is added to each weapon, and this skill is based on which weapon-type the weapon is assigned to by the Better Combat mod.
By default, all skills in your hotbar are tallied up and added to your overall spell hotbar. This will be configurable soon.
Combat Tweaks (Configurable)
This mod also comes with many configurable combat tweaks, to make Better Combat and Spell Engine work together better and feel more satisfying to use.
Find the server.config in the basic-skill-sets config folder.
Here's a list of features:
Holstered Mode (H) -
Unequip your hand items, becoming unable to use items at all. While unequipped, you are faster (40% faster by default) and suffer a movement penalty while swinging your hand.
Forward Lunge on attack
- You lunge forward on attack, velocity based on current speed
Impact Recoil
- When you hit an enemy, you are knocked opposite the direction of your attack slightly (left or right, depending on animation)
Enemy Directional Impact Move
- When you hit an enemy, you knock them in the direction of your attack (left or right, depending on animation)
Attack Particles
- Arcing particles based on attack range and orientation
Hitstop on Self
- Micro "lag" on hitting enemies on yourself, to signify successful hit
Hitstop on Enemies
- Micro "lag" on hitting enemies on the enemy hit, to signify successful hit
Self Knockback on Projectile Spell
- Propel yourself opposite the direction of projectile launch, velocity depending on spell power and spell coefficient
40% attack speed increase after first attack
