About
Description
Sharpness is a useful, all around combat enchantment, but I always thought a measly 0.5 extra damage per level was underwhelming. Especially in modded minecraft it can feel pretty weak, depending on the modpack. So I made a mod that buffs the power and scaling of Sharpness.
Better Sharpness does a few main things to the Sharpness Enchantment:
- Sharpness is now stronger, dealing 1 damage per level of the enchantment, instead of the Vanilla 0.5
- Sharpness now scales up to a max level of X, instead of the Vanilla level cap of V, after defeating the Ender Dragon
- Upon maxing out your Sharpness enchantment, you unlock a cool visual gradient for the enchantment, and whatever item its on.
IMPORTANT
This mod has Dependencies!
Requires: Reworked Anvil.
Config Options
Better Sharpness comes with a config file (found in your instance's config folder) with three options:
alwaysMaxLevel(default: false) — When enabled, grinding Sharpness past the vanilla max level (V) up to X is available immediately, without needing to defeat the Ender Dragon first. Leave this off for the intended progression gate.gradientTooltipEnabled(default: true) — When enabled, an item with Sharpness X shows an animated gold-to-purple gradient across its entire tooltip.gradientItemNameEnabled(default: true) — When enabled, the item's own name (at the top of the tooltip) also gets the animated gradient, separately from the rest of the tooltip. Turn this off if you only want the tooltip body colored, not the item name.
All three options can be toggled independently, so you can keep the gameplay changes while turning off the cosmetic effects (or vice versa) to match your preference.
Enjoy!
