Description
Stop Carpet bots from spawning phantoms
Running Carpet bots on a technical server? They never sleep, so after three in-game days phantoms start spawning around them. The phantoms swoop at players nearby, mess up AFK spots and clutter your mob caps.
Bot Phantom Blocker fixes exactly that, and nothing else. Once per minute, it resets the rest timer of every Carpet bot, the same way sleeping in a bed would. Bots never reach the phantom threshold.
Real players are not affected. If you skip sleeping yourself, phantoms still come for you, exactly as in vanilla.
Features
- Resets
time_since_restfor Carpet bots only, every 60 seconds - Real players keep 100% vanilla phantom behavior
- Server-side. Players joining your server don't need to install anything.
- No dependencies: no Fabric API, no Carpet API required
- No configuration, no commands, no measurable performance impact
- Also works in single-player: just put it into your own
modsfolder
Installation
- Put the jar into the
modsfolder of your server (or of your game for single-player). - Restart the server.
- Look for this line in the log:
Bot Phantom Blocker active: resetting rest timer of Carpet bots every 1200 ticks.
Check that it works
/scoreboard objectives add rest minecraft.custom:minecraft.time_since_rest
/scoreboard objectives setdisplay sidebar rest
Your own value keeps counting up. Every bot drops back to 0 at least once per minute.
How it works
Minecraft spawns phantoms near players whose time_since_rest statistic is above 72,000 ticks (3 in-game days). Every 1,200 ticks, the mod resets this statistic for all players that are Carpet fake players (carpet.patches.EntityPlayerMPFake). Bots are detected by class name, so the mod has no dependency on Carpet itself.
FAQ
Does it change anything for real players? No. Only Carpet bots are affected.
Does it work with fake players from other mods? No. Only Carpet bots are detected.
Do I need Carpet? The mod is made for Carpet bots. Without Carpet it loads fine but does nothing.
