About

Description

Disclaimer: this is a community project not affiliated with Sable / Create Simulated team, not supported and not endorsed by them.

Box3D is a modern outperforming most general purpose physics engines at stability and accuracy, including PhysX and Rapier. This mod adds Box3D as an optional replacement for Rapier which is used by Sable.

Caveats:

  • Not really tested (that's the point of doing a public release lol)
  • Does not support using Create belts as tracks (Sable implements that using contact modification callbacks and Box3D doesn't exactly have these. I use specifically upstream Box3D without any patches)
  • Vibed on purpose. If a dev familiar with neither Sable nor Box3D can do it, an actual expert can do it far better and quicker. Whichever project is open source will win over the one that is restrictive.

This project is a proof of concept to show how the open source / source-visible nature of Sable and Simulated suite in its entirety allows complete bystanders to contribute to their ecosystem. This would have been a Valkyrien Skies addon if it was genuine open source software. Alas, only the Minecraft-facing part of VS2 is available, while its Minecraft-independent portion including networking is obfuscated closed source software.
