⚠️ CNPCPlus is mainly a creator-focused improvement mod. It does not add new blocks or items. Most changes improve existing CustomNPCs systems.

CNPCPlus is a community-maintained improvement and bug-fix project for CustomNPCs.

It does not replace CustomNPCs.

Instead, CNPCPlus keeps the original design philosophy of CustomNPCs while improving its stability, compatibility, usability, and customization capabilities.

The project mainly focuses on:

• Bug fixes.
• Compatibility improvements.
• Creator workflow improvements.
• NPC customization improvements.
• Developer tools and API improvements.
• Fixes and improvements that cannot be reasonably implemented through CNPC scripts alone.
• Better support for complex modded environments.

CNPCPlus is mainly intended for:

• Modded Minecraft map creators.
• Adventure map development teams.
• RPG server development teams.
• Modpack creators.
• CustomNPCs script developers.

Many changes work in the background or improve existing systems rather than adding visible content.

If you are looking for a mod that adds new blocks or items, CNPCPlus is not that kind of mod.

Project Philosophy

CNPCPlus is not intended to create a new NPC system.

The goal is to make CustomNPCs more stable and easier to use in modern modded environments while preserving its original design and compatibility with existing content.

The project follows several principles:

• Preserve compatibility with existing saves whenever possible.
• Improve compatibility with other mods.
• Fix broken or unfinished CustomNPCs features.
• Rewrite systems when a simple patch is not sufficient.
• Use community feedback as an important source for bug fixes and improvements.
• Maintain multiple Minecraft versions where practical.
• Submit mature and generally useful improvements to upstream CustomNPCs when possible.

Version Status

V3

CNPCPlus V3 has reached its final planned feature release with V3.5.0.

After V3.5.0, the V3 series will primarily receive:

• Hotfixes.
• Critical bug fixes.
• Compatibility fixes.

No major new feature development is currently planned for V3.

V4

V4 development is currently paused for 1.20.1 Forge and 1.21.1 NeoForge.

This is primarily because the upstream CustomNPCs developer GoodBird currently does not have enough time to merge the V3 improvements into the upstream project.

CNPCPlus is intended to remain compatible with the direction of the upstream CustomNPCs project, so the V4 development for these versions will be delayed until the current V3 integration work can move forward.

The 1.12.2 Forge version is different.

The upstream 1.12.2 CustomNPCs project has not received active development from Noppes for a long time. Therefore, 1.12.2 does not depend on the same upstream V3 integration process.

As a result:

• 1.20.1 Forge: V4 development paused.
• 1.21.1 NeoForge: V4 development paused.
• 1.12.2 Forge: V4 development continues normally.

The main direction of V4 is performance fixes and performance improvements.

As CNPCPlus has grown, some problems have become less about adding features and more about the performance cost of CustomNPCs itself, especially when used in large modpacks, complex RPG maps, and NPCs containing large amounts of data.

V4 will therefore focus more heavily on:

• Performance fixes.
• Performance improvements.
• Reducing unnecessary data processing.
• Improving the performance of complex NPC systems.
• Improving the experience of large modpacks and RPG maps.

Minecraft Versions

CNPCPlus is maintained for multiple Minecraft versions:

• Forge 1.12.2.
• Forge 1.20.1.
• NeoForge 1.21.1.

Different Minecraft versions may not contain exactly the same features because CustomNPCs and the modding environment are different between versions.

The development status of each version may also differ depending on the development status of upstream CustomNPCs.

Community Project

CNPCPlus is developed around real problems encountered by CustomNPCs creators and modded Minecraft projects.

This includes:

• Bugs found during map development.
• Compatibility problems with other mods.
• Problems that are difficult to solve with scripts.
• Missing tools for CustomNPCs creators.
• Improvements requested by the community.
• Problems discovered when using CustomNPCs in large and complex modpacks.

CNPCPlus is intended to complement CustomNPCs, not replace it.

版本状态

V3

CNPCPlus V3 已经完成最后一个计划中的功能版本：V3.5.0。

V3.5.0 之后，V3 系列将主要进行：

• Hotfix。
• 严重 Bug 修复。
• 兼容性修复。

V3 暂时不会继续进行大规模的新功能开发。

V4

1.20.1 Forge 与 1.21.1 NeoForge 的 V4 开发目前暂缓。

主要原因是上游 CustomNPCs 开发者 GoodBird（好鸟） 近期没有足够时间将 V3 的改进合并至上游项目。

CNPCPlus 希望继续与上游 CustomNPCs 的发展方向保持兼容，因此这两个版本的 V4 开发会等待当前 V3 合并工作进一步推进后再继续。

1.12.2 Forge 则不受此限制。

由于上游 1.12.2 CustomNPCs 已经长期没有得到 Noppes 的实际维护，因此 1.12.2 不需要等待与新版本相同的上游 V3 合并流程。

因此：

• 1.20.1 Forge：V4 暂缓。
• 1.21.1 NeoForge：V4 暂缓。
• 1.12.2 Forge：V4 正常开发。

V4 的主要方向是性能修复与性能改进。

随着 CNPCPlus 功能不断增加，项目目前遇到的问题已经不再只是“缺少功能”，而越来越多地涉及 CustomNPCs 本身的数据处理与性能问题。

尤其是在大型整合包、复杂 RPG 地图以及包含大量数据的 NPC 中，这些问题会更加明显。

因此，V4 将更加重视：

• 性能问题修复。
