Description
Bring the classic Safari experience into Cobblemon with this immersive Safari Zone mod!
Players can enter a dedicated Safari area where they are given a limited number of Safari Balls and a set amount of time to catch as many Cobblemon as possible. During a session, the focus is entirely on exploration and capturing — no traditional battles, just pure hunting.
Once your time runs out or you choose to leave, your Safari session ends, and you won’t be able to re-enter for 24 hours. This creates a rewarding and strategic gameplay loop, encouraging players to make the most out of every visit.
The Safari Zone is fully customizable, allowing server owners and map creators to design unique environments with different themed areas and Pokémon spawns.
How to Setup the Safari Zone:
1. Preparing Your Map (Biomes Setup)
The mod uses a biome replacement system when chunks are loaded for the first time. You must build your map using vanilla biomes, which will then be automatically converted into custom Safari biomes.
Recommended tool: MCA Selector (to paint vanilla biomes on your map)
Biome mapping:
minecraft:sunflower_plains→ safari_grass_zone (Leaf Pokémon)minecraft:plains→ safari_water_zone (Water Pokémon)minecraft:basalt_deltas→ safari_fire_zone (Fire Pokémon)minecraft:ice_spikes→ safari_ice_zone (Ice Pokémon)minecraft:bamboo_jungle→ safari_zen_zone (Zen-themed Pokémon)minecraft:dark_forest→ safari_dark_zone (Dark Pokémon)minecraft:badlands→ safari_mesa_zone (Mesa Pokémon)minecraft:mushroom_fields→ safari_psychic_zone (Psychic Pokémon)minecraft:cherry_grove→ safari_fairy_zone (Fairy Pokémon)minecraft:stony_peaks→ safari_rock_steel_zone (Rock/Steel Pokémon)
⚠️ Biome replacement is permanent per chunk and only happens the first time the chunk is loaded.
If you encounter issues with the Safari map or biome generation, go to your world save folder, then navigate to:/saves/<your_world>/dimensions/
Delete the safarizone folder to reset the Safari dimension. The mod will regenerate it automatically.
2. Customizing Pokémon Spawns
You can edit spawn files inside the mod or via datapack:
Path:
data/cobblemon/spawn_pool_world/
Each Safari zone has its own file:
safari_grass_zone.jsonsafari_water_zone.jsonsafari_fire_zone.json- etc.
Example structure:
{
"pokemon": "bulbasaur",
"type": "pokemon",
"context": "grounded",
"bucket": "rare",
"level": "10-25",
"weight": 6.0,
"condition": { "biomes": ["#safarizone:safari_grass_zone"] }
}
Spawn rarity buckets:
- common → uncommon → rare → ultra-rare
3. Commands
Player commands:
/safari leave→ Leave the Safari Zone
Admin commands:
/safari tp <player>→ Send a player to the Safari/safari kick <player>→ Remove a player from the Safari/safari cooldown clear <player>→ Reset cooldown/safari cooldown check <player>→ Check remaining cooldown/safari setballs <amount>→ Set number of Safari Balls/safari settime <minutes>→ Set session duration/safari reload→ Reload configuration
This mod is perfect for servers and adventure maps looking to add a unique, replayable catching experience with progression, strategy, and full customization.
