Regardless of if you're into Pokemon or not, Cobblemon deserves all the praise it receives.

I don't think any mods rivalize with the level of quality this one possess. The active development, the regular updates, the community surrounding it... This is the best of what the Minecraft community has to offer; Dedicated players gathering a talented team to work on a cohesive project, including community contributions in the development and keeping it opensource so that others can create projects & addons surrounding it.
Modding at its very best.

It would take hours to write everything right about what this mod does, so all I'll say is this is what "Pokemon but in Minecraft" should be like as a concept, and beautifully executed. A perfect replica of the capture and combat system with accurate data, and game mechanics / features that fit perfectly the Minecraft gameplay that we all loves.

My only criticism comes from the fact that it's still in active development, which can be double-edged. On one hand it keeps the mod fresh with regular updates, but it also makes it a "technically" incomplete mod. I'm worried that in the long run, the team behind it keep adding more stuff to it to the point of making it feel bloated, instead of focusing on an endgoal with careful planning. To my knowledge, there is no public timeline for future updates which would help avoid this issue. Althought they've been very meticulous with the new mechanics included in bigger updates so far, and I'm confident the Cobblemon team has learned from the many mistakes of the past (Pixelmon branching out in millions of versions 👀)
From a technical standpoint, I would appreciate features that forces the player to interact more with the Cobblemon system. Stuff that already exist in addons and servers like trainer npcs, dungeons, unique items or accessories rewarded from engaging with the mod itself. As is, Cobblemon is still fundamentally Minecraft with Pokemon on top, but I feel like despite the behemoth of content added, the mod is still lacking in goals that give reasons to interact with its many systems.
