About

Description

When you encounter creatures clad in peculiar armor...
When you stumble upon the ruins of an ancient civilization...
You will discover another world, hollow and blanketed in white snow...

Cryofloric Arts introduces a series of tools, creatures, structures, and new mechanics inspired by the Younger Dryas impact hypothesis to Minecraft.

You may find creatures wearing Patterned Armor in various locations. These creatures are typically under the effects of Frost Powder for 15 minutes. When such a creature is killed, if there are blocks nearby suitable for planting Dryas Ice Petals, a Dryas Ice Petal will generate on top of one of those blocks.

Underground, you might discover ruins housing ancient creatures, along with traps and treasures. Dryas Ice Petals can also be found within these structures.

The Dryas Ice Petal is a core item in the mod. It spreads new Dryas Ice Petals to adjacent blocks. In dark conditions, it metamorphoses into a subspecies – the Snowfall Taro, an edible crop. By baking the Snowfall Taro in a furnace, you can cause it to sprout. Consuming the sprouted Rooted Snowfall Taro grants you the Frost Powder effect. While under this effect, killing creatures causes Dryas Ice Petals to grow nearby and has a chance to increase the level of the Frost Powder effect.

When the Frost Powder effect reaches level 5, you gain the Over-Rooting effect. This provides periodic health regeneration but prevents you from dealing damage to other entities also under the Over-Rooting effect. Upon death while affected, a Bloated Snowfall Taro Tuber is generated. This process applies to most creatures with the Frost Powder effect. These activities all contribute to increasing the Frost Dust value within the chunk.

Frost Dust Value is a unique mechanic central to the mod, influencing most of its systems. When the Frost Dust value exceeds 10,000, the long-dormant White Barrens from the past will begin to generate in the world, starting to infect and overwrite it.

The mod includes an Advancement system to guide your progression. You can also use JEI to view recipes and other information for items added by the mod.

Cryofloric Arts

Inspired by the "Younger Dryas event," this mod introduces a series of new mechanics, creatures, blocks, effects, and items.

New Blocks and Items

The mod adds a flower that can rarely be found in cold regions: the Icepetal Dryadbloom. It can spread similarly to mushrooms. When brewed into suspicious stew, it grants the Frosted effect. In dark environments (light level less than 1), it transforms into a Snowfall Taro Plant. This plant grows like a crop but can only reach the third growth stage in low-light conditions (below light level 12). Full growth requires brighter light. Snowfall Taro has high saturation. When baked in a furnace, it becomes Rooted Snowfall Taro, which offers higher hunger restoration but lower saturation. Consuming it also grants the Frost Powder effect.

When Icepetal Dryadbloom is near water, it may grow aquatically as Aquatic Frigid Grass. This variant slows and freezes entities like powder snow and applies a brief Frost Powder effect.

The Frost Dust Detector can be crafted using four snowballs and one Icepetal Dryadbloom arranged like a compass. It detects the current chunk's Frost Dust level through texture changes.

The Snow Accumulation Detector is crafted with:

· Iron Ingot, [empty], Iron Ingot · Snowball, Compass, Snowball · Iron Ingot, Frost Dust Detector, Iron Ingot

It directly displays the current Frost Dust value in the chunk. Values above 10,000 cannot be displayed.

The Frostfall Trident functions similarly to a trident but leaves behind a cloud that applies Frosted and Frost Dust effects when thrown. Its attacks also inflict these effects on mobs.

The Bloated Snowfall Tuber emits very bright light and infects nearby blocks and entities. Infected blocks turn into powder snow, and affected entities gain the Frost Powder effect.

New Effects

· Frosted: Periodically deals freezing damage based on the effect's level. · Frost Powder: Causes an Icepetal Dryadbloom to spawn where an entity dies (or is killed). It also increases the effect level, duration, and Frost Dust value. At level 4 or higher, it applies the Over-Rooting effect (max level 10). · Over-Rooting: Prevents affected entities from attacking each other. Periodically restores health equal to level × 5, extends the Frost Powder effect, and spawns a Bloated Snowfall Tuber upon death.

New Mechanics

Frost Dust is a property carried by each infected chunk. When the value reaches 10,000, the biome will irreversibly transform into the White Barrens.

New Biome

White Barrens: This biome only spawns creatures composed of Icepetal Dryadbloom. It snows continuously, and grass and water appear gray.

New Creature

Frostfall Bee: Native to the White Barrens, immune to powder snow, and regenerates health quickly. It actively attacks hostile entities with 20 HP or less and permanently has Frost Powder level 10 and Over-Rooting. Blindfrost Beast:This mob spawns in theWhite Barrens biome. It searches for unlooted chests nearby and coats them with its slime. When a player opens such a chest, they will receive the Frosted effect at level 5 and the Frost Powder effect. When attacked,it will call upon nearby creatures affected by Over-Rooting to target the attacker, and inflict the Frosted effect at level 3 on all enemies in the area. Players under theOver-Rooting effect can offer it Rooted Snowfall Taro to obtain its slime, which can be used to coat containers to prevent theft.

The mod is still in development. Please report any bugs to the author.
