MEANT TO BE PAIRED WITH Unidentified Enchants

☠️Curse Removal

Ever found the perfect piece of gear... only for it to be ruined by a curse?
Yeah. Screw that. 😭

Curse Removal adds immersive and configurable ways to hide, reveal, and remove curses from enchanted items while staying balanced and compatible with other enchantment overhaul mods.

At the center of the mod is the Hexbreaker Shard — a rare cleansing crystal capable of stripping curses from gear... if you’re willing to risk the consequences.

✨ Features

🔮 Hexbreaker Shard

A special item used to remove curses from equipment.

Supports:

  • Removing one or multiple curses
  • Random or ordered curse removal
  • Optional XP costs
  • Optional durability requirements
  • Optional item damage during cleansing
  • Blacklists for protected curses/items
  • Configurable shard consumption chance

💀 Failure System

Curse removal doesn’t have to be safe.

Optional failure mechanics include:

  • Curse removal failure chance
  • Destroying the item on failure
  • Adding a NEW random curse on failure

You can make curse cleansing feel cheap... or terrifying.

👁 Hidden Curse System

Hide curses from tooltips for a more mysterious and immersive enchantment experience.

Options include:

  • Hide curse tooltip lines
  • Hide glint on curse-only items
  • Red cursed item names
  • Red curse glint support with Quark
  • Held Item Tooltips compatibility
  • Clean Tooltips compatibility

🧠 Unidentified Enchants Compatibility

Full compatibility with Unidentified Enchants.

When enabled:

  • Curses remain hidden until identified with a Runic Cipher
  • Hexbreaker Shards cannot remove hidden curses
  • Revealed curses automatically become visible
  • Prevents bypassing the identification progression system

This creates a full gameplay loop:

  1. Discover suspicious enchanted gear
  2. Identify hidden curses
  3. Decide whether the item is worth cleansing
  4. Risk using the Hexbreaker Shard

🔥 Quark Compatibility

If Quark is installed:

  • Cursed items can receive a dynamic red enchantment glint
  • Generated loot/chest items support the glint automatically
  • Glints clean themselves up properly if disabled later

⚙️Highly Configurable

Curse Removal is highly configurable and allows you to customize how dangerous or forgiving curse removal should be as well as tooltip control for curses

  • Curse removal behavior
  • Failure chances
  • XP costs
  • Item damage
  • Tooltip hiding
  • Glint behavior
  • Compat systems
  • Protected curses
  • Blacklists
  • Visual immersion settings

💡 Why This Mod?

Vanilla curses are usually just annoying.
This mod turns them into an actual gameplay mechanic.

Instead of instantly throwing cursed gear into lava:

  • inspect it
  • identify it
  • risk cleansing it
  • or embrace the curse 👀

🚧 Planned Features

  • More dangerous curse failure outcomes
  • Possible cursed item binding mechanics
  • Optional Unidentified Enchants integration to completely hide all signs of cursed items until a Runic Cipher reveals the curse

🤝 Compatible With

  • Quark
  • Held Item Tooltips
  • Clean Tooltips
  • Unidentified Enchants
