Description
Descent into Silence - this is a global mod in its embryo stage. This mod will receive major updates and develop both its story and gameplay over time, but right now it's just a test run and preparation for mechanics that will be introduced once and for all.
Content:
Resources - which will be used to craft other resources, which will be used to craft other resources, which will be used to craft even more resources; house building via the Builder; transport and decor; tools and equipment.
What's implemented?
Bare minimum - namely: 2 creatures, 1 biome and 3 sub-biomes, a bunch of tools and animations that I'm not proud of but hey, it is what it is; plants and resources.
As for mechanics - I can point out the song playback system (more on that later), the crafting system, PDA entries, creature behavior (if you still remember - there's only two of them), the death system and death penalties, plus the main menu and HUD - but more on that below (scroll down a bit if you don't see it :).
HUD and Visuals:
The main menu, the ESC button, and some places in vanilla Minecraft will be - or already have been - replaced with custom ones in the mod's style. Everything else will either be finished later or won't be touched at all. The visuals in some places might differ - or will differ - and it's most noticeable with resources, since I'm the one making them. And in general - music by me, code by me, models by me, visuals by me, scenario by me. Too much? You wanted this? A mod with cool models and cool animations? Yeah, sure.
Music:
3 tracks for the first biome in the game, 1 for the main menu, and 1 for the Dead Zone. Future zones will be filled with their own music.
Future Plans:
Can't sleep - so I'll keep developing the mod by fixing bugs, improving models (if I don't like how they look, I'll try to make them better), adding mobs, tools, and so on.
Inspiration:
I draw from the Subnautica series - underwater survival on an alien planet; from mods based on the original game series, mostly the first one; and from other games I found interesting and - most importantly - fitting.
Important Note:
Fabric API and GeckoLib 4.4.2 - these are mandatory, as is a shader called lfAstraldCore. Everything else is at your own risk of crashes.
Reason for Creating:
Looking at the mods that are coming out - or have come out - I didn't see anything that would fully cover the problem of current Minecraft. The ocean is an empty space. Yes, this mod isn't made for vanilla - it's purely an attempt to create a game within a game, focused on interesting and atmospheric exploration. Exploration of what? First and foremost - my ideas.
Descent into Silence... Hear the silence.
