Overview
Sandstorm brings immersive weather systems to Minecraft's desert biomes, featuring dynamic multi-phase storms with realistic effects. Experience the harsh beauty of desert survival as massive sandstorms roll across the landscape with devastating winds, lightning strikes, and environmental hazards.
Features
Five-Phase Storm System The mod features a progressive storm system that starts with light winds and reduced visibility, giving you time to seek shelter. As storms intensify, they bring moderate damage and fatigue effects in the middle phases. The most severe storms include strong winds with lightning strikes and armor damage, culminating in extreme conditions with frequent lightning and devastating environmental effects.
Lightning and Visual Effects During intense storm phases, you'll experience dynamic lightning strikes with screen shake effects that very based on your distance from the strike and storm intensity. The lightning creates blinding flashes.
Wind Physics Players and entities experience realistic wind forces that push them around during storms. Wind direction changes over time with smooth transitions, and wind strength varies by storm phase and your level of protection. Crouching reduces the wind's impact on your movement.
Other Features The mod is using with Sodium(Rubidium) Extra and automatically adjusts fog settings when storms are active. It works seamlessly in multiplayer environments and includes a biome-aware system that affects desert and badlands biomes specifically.
Configuration Mod have a huge config that allows you to change almost every value in mod, from phase time and effects to shelter system.
Compatibility Current compatibility list:
- Biomes O' Plenty - sandstorms spawn in desert biomes
- Terralith - sandstorms spawn in desert biomes
Gameplay
Storms naturally evolve through different phases, with each phase lasting between 15 and 45 minutes depending on the intensity. Storms can either escalate to maximum severity or gradually calm down over time.
Survival becomes a careful balance between exploration and preparation. Carrying full armor sets, building proper shelters, and understanding wind patterns are crucial for desert survival. The storms affect visibility, movement, health, hunger, and equipment durability. In future the mod will have sandstorms autosummons.
