Description

Deus ex Machina

Deus ex Machina is a difficulty-scaling mod designed to help players overcome the hardest bosses in the game through persistence rather than raw skill alone.

If you are stuck on a difficult boss, this mod ensures that every death makes you stronger for the next attempt.

How It Works

1. The Bottle of Ambrosia

To activate the system, you must drink a Bottle of Ambrosia.

  • Effect: Grants the Deus ex Machina status effect.
  • Persistence: This effect is permanent and stays with you even after death.
  • Removal: You can toggle the effect off by drinking another Bottle of Ambrosia or a bucket of Milk.

2. Adaptation & Vengeance

While the effect is active, the mod tracks your combat performance against configured bosses. If you die to a boss, you respawn with new advantages specific to that entity:

  • Damage Reduction: You take less damage from that boss.
  • Damage Bonus: You deal more damage to that boss.

These bonuses stack with every death. The more you struggle, the stronger you become, eventually guaranteeing victory.

Configuration

The mod is designed to be flexible for modpacks and server owners. You can adjust the following in the config file:

  • Whitelist/Blacklist: Define exactly which mobs or bosses trigger the effect (supports modded entities).
  • Scaling: Set the exact percentage of armor and damage gained per death.
  • Reset on Kill: Choose if the bonuses reset to zero after you kill the boss, or if you keep the power permanently.
