Description
DirectInventory
DirectInventory is a lightweight logistics mod for Minecraft designed to automate the organization, sorting, and intelligent distribution of items between containers without the need for complicated pipe networks or expensive systems.
🛠️ What Does the Mod Do?
The mod introduces a decentralized, event-based physical network system. Its primary goal is to allow players to manage their storage cleanly: empty your inventory into a single chest, and the mod handles distributing each item to its corresponding location instantly.
Key Features:
- Event-Driven Smart Transfer: When closing a chest GUI (or stopping interaction with it), the mod detects the action and scans the connected physical network to move items to their appropriate destinations.
- Ghost Slot Filters: Configure an item in the filter block via a GUI without leaving the actual item stored inside the machine. The configured item acts as a template that does not consume items from your inventory and cannot be extracted by hoppers or other mods.
- Point-to-Point Connection: Restricts connections to only \(1\) inventory per filter, preventing unintended corners or intersections that spoil the aesthetics of your base.
- Bidirectional Redistribution: The system does not only send items from the input chest; it can also "pull" and sort misplaced items stored in other chests across the network to place them into their designated filtered chests.
📦 Mod Components

1. Node
The basic cable or physical pipe of the network. It connects filter blocks together and interconnects the various chests in the system. It automatically adapts its shape to form clean corners, lines, or intersections.
2. Node Filter
The intelligent agent of the network. It must be placed directly attached to a face of a chest or container. Right-clicking it opens a GUI where you can assign a template item that defines which items should be stored in that specific chest.
🔌 How to Connect and Structure Your Network
To ensure your storage system functions properly, follow these steps for physical and logical setup:

Step 1: Place the Input Chest (Deposit)
Place the chest where you plan to dump your inventory after returning from mining or exploring. Connect a Node pipe to any of its open faces.
Step 2: Extend the Piping (Node)
Run a line of Node pipes from the input chest toward the area where your storage chests are located.
Step 3: Attach the Filters (Node Filter)
On each target chest, place a Node Filter pointing toward the chest face. Ensure the back end of the filter connects to the main Node line.
Connection Note: Each filter will only connect to one chest and one network pipe, preventing unwanted cross-connections around the filters.
Step 4: Configure the Filters
Open the GUI of each Node Filter and click the center slot with the item you want to store in that chest (e.g., Cobblestone, Iron Ingot, etc.).
Step 5: Overflow / Fallback Filter (Optional)
If you want unsorted items to avoid getting stuck in the input chest, you can leave the GUI of one Node Filter completely empty. This chest will act as a general fallback storage.
🔄 Distribution Hierarchy and Priority
When an item transfer is triggered, the mod processes the content following a strict priority order:
- Priority 1 — Specific Filter (Exact Match): The mod searches for filters that match the exact item being moved. If multiple filters are configured for the same item, it will fill the chest of the first filter in line first.
- Priority 2 — Overflow Re-request: If the chest of the first specific filter becomes completely full during the transfer, the system skips that option and automatically moves on to the next filtered chest of the same type.
- Priority 3 — Empty Filter (General Storage): If the item does not match any specific filter on the network (or if all specific chests are full), the item is transferred to the chest assigned to an empty filter template.
