Distant thunders

A realism mod that introduces speed-of-sound physics to Minecraft. Lightning strikes are no longer heard instantly; instead, the thunder reaches you with a delay based on your distance from the strike. It also features dynamic volume scaling and realistic, low rolling echoes.

Features

  • Thunder arrives later the farther the strike is
  • Far thunder is quieter and deeper
  • Echo after the thunder, can be turned down
  • Storms keep going outside of your loaded chunks, you still hear them and see the sky flash
  • With Distant Horizons you can see the bolts themselves, even kilometres away

Lightning

lightning Bolts are not a vanilla stick anymore: lots of thin branches, flashing a few times, each flash reaches lower.

Settings

You can change how the bolt looks: height, number of flashes, branches, thickness, glow, colour, lifetime. There are presets if you don't want to bother: Realistic, Cinematic, Subtle, Classic, Violet storm, Needle.

Command

/fakelightning <x> <y> <z> [start height] [stroke] - makes a strike at that point. Last number shows only one flash of the bolt so you can look at it.

Requires

  • Architectury API
  • Fabric API on Fabric
  • Distant Horizons is optional, without it you only get sound and sky flashes (Voxy can't show the bolts)
