Description

Enchanted Adventure

Vanilla enchanting is a slot machine: grind XP, throw it at a table with some lapis, get a random result. Enchanted Adventure ties getting enchantments to actually adventuring instead.

Core changes

Ancient Papyrus replaces the enchanting table's currency. The enchanting table now only accepts a book plus scraps of Ancient Papyrus — fragments of lost, forgotten knowledge — instead of lapis lazuli or burned XP levels. You get access to real enchantments by going out and recovering that knowledge, not by sitting in a mining hole.

Ancient Papyrus drops from mob spawners. Break a spawner and it drops 2–4 scraps (scales further with Fortune). Spawners are worth breaking now instead of just farming forever — speaking of which:

Mob farms got harder to build. Spawner activation range is widened well beyond vanilla, so cramming a mob grinder into a small box no longer works. You'll need to commit more space (or just go break the spawner for papyrus instead).

It turns up in dungeon loot too. Chests in dungeons, temples, strongholds, ancient cities, bastions, nether fortresses, end cities, shipwrecks, ocean ruins, pillager outposts, and woodland mansions all have a chance to include Ancient Papyrus. (Village chests are deliberately excluded — this is loot for adventurers, not shopkeepers.) Compatible structure packs are picked up automatically, so runs through mods like Dungeons and Taverns are rewarded the same way.

Librarians want it too. Villager trades for enchanted books cost emeralds and a scrap of Ancient Papyrus, so trading and exploring feed into the same currency instead of competing with it.

Why

Vanilla enchanting doesn't feel earned — it's a resource sink, not a reward. Enchanted Adventure makes every enchantment trace back to something you actually did: a spawner you fought through, a dungeon you cleared, a trade you worked for. The fluff even fits: enchantments are ancient knowledge, and you're piecing it back together one scrap of papyrus at a time.

Compatibility

  • Minecraft 26.2 / NeoForge
  • Server + client (needs to be installed on both)
